A Guide to Perfecting the Patient Encounter

Often, it has been noted that a wellconceived book is the legacy that a great mind leaves to the world. With trademark expertise and candor, Michael P. Rowane, DO, offers a keen perspective and hands-on detail in his recently published book entitled, Basic Musculoskeletal Manipulation Skills: The 15 Minute Office Encounter. Co-authored with Paul Evans, DO, the impressive body of work presents to the reader a concise clinical case via a background of anatomy, employing straightforward techniques and abundant references. “The good physician treats the disease; the great physician treats the patient who has the disease, explained William Osler, the renowned Canadian physician. With that instructive principle in mind, the book provides a comprehensive, engaging, and essential tool for any physician who seeks to understand all that is entailed in

an office encounter with a patient. More than 400 photographs, 150 illustrations, and 200 charts make Basic Musculoskeletal Manipulation Skills: The 15 Minute Office Encounter an invaluable resource for students and practitioners alike. The work offers plentiful mnemonic devices that enable the reader to remember all that has been learned, and it is replete with diagrammatic photographs with arrows that indicate exactly the way in which the technique is applied. The easy-to-follow charts enable a doctor to visualize the technique. The book is a foundational tool for any good practice. Michael P.
