While having cool benefits and perks like free food, beer fridges or games, company culture is really about how employees behave when critical events occur. Great company culture is when employees and management react positively when facing adversity and treat each other and customers with respect. As consultant, educator and author Peter Drucker states, “Culture eats strategy for breakfast.” In other words, no matter how well a strategic plan is designed, if the company culture isn’t good, that strategy will fail.
