Hi Everyone! as you all know, our Leblon Road Trip to Rio is now well underway - in the US, Daniel de Oliveira and Rob Lessa a.k.a. Jésus are in Ohio en route to Chicago and Indianapolis; in Europe, Philippe Mille & Rui Cesar Teixeira are about to leave the UK headed to Brussels; and Marcello Gaya, Daniel Soares, Marco De la Roche, & Alex Mesquita are getting the #CaipiMobile ready to begin the Brazilian leg of the trip…no doubt our goal is to have a lot of FUN on this road trip, and to share the fun with YOU along the way. however, while we are having fun, our ultimate goal is to do some GOOD in the process, raising money for an important charity in Rio de Janeiro….more specifically, the goal is to raise (at least) $50,000 for the Developing Minds Foundation, an organization that supports children’s education in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro. founded by our friend Philippe Houdard, Developing Minds has built and supports schools in Rocinha and City of God, two of Rio’s largest favelas. in Rocinha, Developing Minds finances several classrooms for an after-school program in one of the poorest parts of the favela, a section called Roupa Suja. the school provides early childhood education, literacy programs, technology training, and homework assistance, serving over 100 children per semester and serving as an important step on the path to an improved life. in the City of God, Developing Minds sponsors a school to teach over 700 students per year how to use computers, repair hardware, edit video and code for software as a means to develop skills to integrate into the job market. by the time students emerge from the school, they have developed a sophisticated set of skills and aptitudes, enabling them to compete with peers attending schools in middle-class neighborhoods. both schools in Rocinha and City of God have an excellent track record, with hundreds of students graduating their programs and finding jobs and careers that help break the cycle of poverty and find a better life. while I know there are many views regarding the political situations of our respective countries - whether you are in Brazil, the U.S., or in Europe - I think we can all agree that education is a long-term solution for many of our problems. please help us with our mission to raise (at least) $50,000 for Developing Minds Foundation and children’s education in the favelas in Rio. giving is simple - just go to the following link, and donate what you can: https://www.crowdrise.com/developing-…/…/leblonroadtriptorio thank you for your support! and please feel free to share our cause with others. #leblonroadtriptorio #developingminds #liveloveleblon
