welcome back yellowjackets!
Yellowjacket Community,
It's awesome to be a Lebanon Yellowjacket! I am truly humbled to live and work in a community filled with kind, caring, and compassionate people Whether you are a longtime Lebanon resident or new to the area, you are an important member of our school community We are blessed to have a tremendous support system for the more than 4,500 young people who call themselves Yellowjackets! On behalf of our students and over 700 dedicated staff members, thank you for supporting our schools! As we prepare for the 2023-24 school year, I would like to share a few celebrations with you
Proposition Lebanon Schools, approved by voters on August 7, 2018, continues to have a huge impact on our school district Thanks to the unwavering support of our community, we have been able to improve staff pay tremendously over the past five years! Approximately 3,000 students travel to and from school daily on newer and safer buses, thanks to the purchase of 26 buses since 2018. We are committed to taking great care of our facilities for generations of Yellowjackets to come, and the Lebanon community has truly invested in making sure our students have a clear plan for their future!
We are excited to celebrate the opening of our new Early Childhood Center at the Robert W Plaster Center for Student Success! Our partnership with Jordan Valley Community Health will ensure we meet the health, hygiene, and learning needs of our youngest Yellowjackets Boswell Elementary School will also unveil a new entrance and library that will also serve as a FEMA rated storm shelter for our students. These facilities represent our School Board’s commitment to providing our students with the best learning environments possible
Our purpose is to inspire a passion for learning among our students We achieve this by fostering positive relationships, providing each student with personalized experiences, and maintaining a focus on the future. Our students represent the future of our community, and we take pride in partnering with you to make their futures bright!
Thank you for your continued support of our students, our schools, and our community! Go Yellowjackets!

Progress continues on all goals...
As we celebrate five years since Proposition Lebanon Schools was supported by our community, we are continuing to make progress toward each of our goals! We are continuing our ongoing preventative maintenance cycle and have made significant progress on HVAC, roof and asphalt repair throughout the District We are consistently lowering the average age of our school buses, well on track to reach our goal by 2029 We are on pace for competitive teacher pay this school year, and are partnering with our community to provide more personalized learning experiences than ever before to prepare students for their futures!
goals of 2018's proposition lebanon schools
+ all kids will graduate with a clear plan for their future
+ all staff pay will be competitive with area schools by 2024
+ the average age of all buses will be 10 years or less by 2029
+ a sustainable, ongoing maintenance cycle will be established to address critical facility needs
teacher pay on pace to be competitive with comparable schools
Average Teacher Pay
Leading up to 2018's Proposition Lebanon Schools, the District found itself at the bottom of our 19 comparable schools for staff pay year after year. However, as we enter our fifth year of increasing staff pay through growth in local funding, Lebanon Schools is rising in the ranks, on track to meet our goal of being competitive with area schools by 2024 Local support through Proposition Lebanon Schools is a crucial investment in recruiting and retaining the best teachers for our students.
Average Age of Buses
This school year, the Lebanon School District will purchase four more newto-us buses, bringing our average bus age down to 10 9 years! Prior to Proposition Lebanon Schools, we had one of the oldest bus fleets in Missouri Today, we are consistently providing newer, safer buses for our students, well on track to meet our goal!

EXPLORE, DISCOVER, PURSUE
As we empower all learners with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions to be ready for their futures, we make sure students of all grade levels get to explore, discover and pursue their passions and interests! This starts at the prekindergarten level with experiences like Transportation Day and Farm Day, and continues through elementary and middle school when students hear from speakers, go on field trips, and learn from high school students in career programs It cultivates in the many career exploration opportunities we offer to our high school students, where our goal is for all students to graduate with a clear plan for their future From the Lebanon Technology and Career Center to GO CAPS and much, much more, we are continually partnering with business and industry in our community to give all students the opportunity to explore, discover and pursue their futures!
SWARMING FOR STUDENT SUCCESS
K-8th grade students have a safe, fun and educational before and after-school experience through Jacket SWARM!
Our Jacket SWARM program started last school year and has been an awesome addition to our offerings for students and their families! Before school, students at Esther, Maplecrest, Boswell and LMS can receive homework help, and play learning games and activities After school, students receive help with homework as well as enrichment for reading and math They can also participate in fun activities that align with their interests Students receive an after-school snack, and transportation home is available The SWARM program is free to district families!
"Jacket SWARM has really added to the student experiences we offer by providing helpful and relevant learning opportunities," said Assistant Superintendent Dr Laura O'Quinn

EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTER OPENING AT THE ROBERT W. PLASTER CENTER FOR STUDENT SUCCESS
We can't wait to welcome our preschool students to our new Early Childhood Center at the Robert W. Plaster Center for Student Success! The final stages of construction are wrapping up and teachers are beginning to move into our new Early Childhood Center, getting ready for our youngest learners to start their educational journey.
Our Parents as Teachers and GO CAPS programs will also be relocating to the Center for Student Success this school year! Additionally, Jordan Valley Community Health will be opening their second Lebanon clinic, providing more care options for families, all under one roof. Our Junior Jacket Team will partner with Jordan Valley to meet the health, hygiene and learning needs of our community's youngest learners so they can start school with a strong foundation.
Over the past several years, the District's early childhood program has grown tremendously, leaving many families on a waitlist for preschool. Due to space constraints at Esther Elementary, the District pursued a new space for Early Childhood in 2021, and we're thrilled to see it coming to fruition.
"Our new Early Childhood Center is coming together to create a beautiful new space for our community's youngest learners," said Superintendent Dr. David Schmitz. "We are thrilled to watch our Early Childhood program continue to grow and flourish in preparing preschoolers for their futures. Through collaboration with the Jordan Valley clinic, Parents as Teachers, and GO CAPS programs all under one roof, we will be able to better serve families and young children while also providing relevant career experiences for high school students."

Over the summer, the Boswell Elementary FEMA storm shelter and accompanying renovation and addition projects have been wrapping up, and we're excited to debut these new spaces to Boswell students, staff and families!
The project includes a number of updates for Boswell. The FEMA safe structure includes a beautiful and innovative new library and media center for the school, as well as a talented & gifted classroom, a cafeteria renovation, and a relocation of the main entrance and school offices. We know the construction through last school year was sometimes a hurdle for Boswell students and staff, but we believe these beautiful new spaces will be more than worth it, and will serve our community for many years to come!
The library media center will also serve as a community storm shelter, much like at Maplecrest Elementary and Lebanon Middle School. The Boswell shelter will be available to patrons during the school day, as well as after hours in the event of severe weather.
