ENRICHMENT M. O’Lisa Johnson M. O’Lisa Johnson’s experience with sewing, design, fashion and business extends over three decades. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Human Development with concentrations in Fashion Merchandising and Business Administration from the University of Oklahoma. After launching a small business venture, O’Lisa enrolled in the Apparel Design & Services Program at Seattle Central Community College where design and production took front and center stage. Today O’Lisa is owner of O’Lisa J Designs, a small design and consulting business.

Discover how to create skin-pampering soap the old-fashioned way using lye, fats and oils. Learn both hot and cold process soap making techniques. Leave class with eight bars of soap, recipes, instructions and a list of ingredient suppliers. Handmade soap makes a perfect gift. Nature & Science Geology at the New Burke Museum

The Burke Museum, our Washington State Museum of Natural History and Culture, has a new home and you can be among the first to explore it! We will discuss geologic history, resources and natural hazards of Washington State in coordination with a class field trip to the new museum where twice as much of the collection is on view as was in the old building. The field trip to the museum on the University of Washington campus is Sunday, 2/9/20 for approximately two hours. Students must pay for their transportation to/from the field trip, entry fees (if applicable), and food/ drink costs while on the field trip. Bring a notebook to class. No more struggling through sewing projects; learn to sew the fun and easy way! Practice pattern reading, choosing the right fabrics and laying out fabric to create a finished piece you can be proud of. Whether you want to redecorate your home, make crafts or clothes, we‘ll get you stitching in the right direction. Fabric and patterns provided for the first two projects. At the first session, instructor will provide a guide to assist in the fabric purchase for the final apparel project; students are responsible for purchasing fabric for this final project. Bring your sewing machine in good working order, power cord, foot control, bobbins,operator’s manual (if available), sharp scissors, tape measure and straight pins.
