Cedar tree supports an anvil-shaped rement of an icestorm This image follows the rule of thirds and was a result of playing with depth of field. To emphasize the ice and the greenery, the image was altered by increasing vibrance, and color balance in favor of cyan.

1

Plants

Rose bouquet demonstrates depth of field and dominance. The original was overly red, so the image was edited to increase green color balance.

2

Smore the goat wanted to be involved in the activities in the barn. The photo demonstrates leading lines and rule of thirds. He was unexpected, so to get his image I had to use flash. The post-processing efforts focused on “un-harshening the flash. I lowered the expose, added some vibrance and a warming filter.

Thirteen likes to visit oddities in the yard, including an old computer tower. Both subjects balance the image and show rule of thirds. Because the day was dreary and cloudy, I brightened the image slightly and added a modest warming filter.

Animals

4

Nicole and Jack bond after a lunging session. This image follows the rule of thirds. I cropped the image to be vertical to emphasize the equestrian instead of the horse.

5

People

Ashton wanted to take pictures of some of the horses, but Gwil just wanted attention. The image abides by the rule of thirds. The original was cropped to emphasize Ashton instead of Gwil.

It was not late enough in the day to play with jelly bean shadows, so I played with the jelly beans themselves. This image was taken at an angle to illustrate the orange and purple “characters looking down and waiting for their friends to reach them. Both groups balance the image visually. I altered curves so the yellow jelly bean was not so bleached out by the bright ladder step.

Food

The candy hearts were arranged to demonstrate depth of field. No edits were made.

8

This building was found along a county road, conveniently when the clouds showed stark contrast. The image shows rule of thirds and dominance. I added a sepia filter and lightened the shadows so the sky didn’t “out shine” the ground too much.

9

Scenery

The fence lines and the associated shadows show leading lines, depth of field and contrast. I added a sepia filter to make the image appear more subtle.

10

Someone’s idea of a good statue bares all in the morning rays. The subject sticks its head in what would be a box corner in the rule of thirds. To make this visually more appealing, I increased vibrance and added a warming filter.

11

Other

This miniature fiberglass Christmas tree was the subject of a tripod and long exposure experiment. The lights and the ball ornament balance each other and follow the rule of thirds. I slightly increased brightness and green color balance.
