SWIM LESSONS AQUATICS

Parent/Tot, Infants-Toddlers (Sea Cucumbers): In this introduction to aquatics class the parent is learning just as much as the infant. We introduce the infants into a positive swim environment through the use of water toys, fun games and songs. Parents learn how to constructively play with their child while they learn the basics of swimming. Preschool, 3-5 years old (Sea Horses): This is an unaccompanied small group class. Swimmers will learn to be comfortable in the water and learn the basic techniques required in swimming. Swimmers will have fun learning how to float, blow bubbles, submerge themselves and use their arms and legs. Preschool Advanced 3-5 years old (Sea Turtles): Is your little one ready to move on from preschool basics? Our Preschool Advanced class is designed to refine the skills learned in Preschool and introduce unassisted swimming techniques. Swimmers will learn to use their arms and legs independently and practice underwater skills while still learning about water safety and having fun. Station 1, 6 years and older (Sea Otters): This class is an introduction swim class for children 6 and older. Swimmers will learn the basics of water safety and swimming techniques such as submerging in the water, blowing bubbles, supported and unsupported floating, arm strokes and leg kicks. Station 2, 6 years and older (Sea Lions): Building on the skills learned in pre-school and station 1 classes, station 2 works on floating and recovery, glides and kicking, diving from the side (sitting), and continued water safety skills, how to call for help. Station 3, 6 years and older (Clownfish): As swimmers progress and get more comfortable in the water it is important to hone in on the techniques from previous classes and begin learning new strokes. This class will focus on swimming front and back crawl, breathing to the side, the swimmer will demonstrate and be introduced to butterfly and breaststroke kick. Station 4, 6 years and older (Parrotfish): Progressing in stroke technique and water safety skills is what this class is all about. The student will learn open turns, emergency recognition, and add length of distance to their swimming. Station 5, 6 years and older (Sailfish): Swimmers in this station will move towards perfecting their strokes and adding distance to their swimming. Swimmers will learn flip turns and swim up to 100 yards per stroke. Station 6, 6 years and older (Sharks): This station is a warm-up to swim team. Swimmers will learn swim team discipline, tread water, stroke drills and swim up to 300 yards continuously. Starts and proper stretching are also introduced.
