Basic Electricity/Electronics

A basic course in electricity that covers Ohm’s law, resistor color codes, transformers, inductors and capacitors, AC theory, operation of digital multi–meters and ladder logic. Industrial Electricity

This class will cover AC and DC Electromotive principles and motor ratings, construction of basic motor control circuitry, motor protection devices, motor control circuits using relay ladder logic, wiring configurations and load distribution. Basic Electricity is strongly recommended as a prerequisite. This course is a prerequisite if taking Intro to PLCs. Books included in tuition. Intro to PLCs

Learn systems configuration and programming using Allen Bradley SLC 500 and Micrologix 1000. Course will review binary, octal, hexadecimal and BCD numbering systems used in PLC control. PLC ladder diagram construction, I/O addressing, and circuit interfaces will be heavily stressed with use of RS Logix as a programming platform. Prerequisite: Industrial Electricity or experience. Metallurgy – Non–Ferrous Metals

Pre–Requisite: None The production and application of non–ferrous metals. Topics covered include: Non–ferrous metals, theory of alloys, physical metallurgy, aluminum, magnesium, copper, bearing metals, die casting, powder metallurgy surface treatment, new metals and applications and welding metallurgy. Pre–Requisite: None The production and application of ferrous metals. Lubrication

This class will cover sliding and rolling friction and how lubricants reduce friction and wear. This class will review oil and grease properties, terms and identifiers. Welding Beginning

An introduction to welding using both oxy–acetylene flame and electric arc. Course includes shop safety, fusion of metals, identification of electrodes and equipment set up. Welding Advanced

Develop skills with further training and practice with gas and arc on vertical and overhead welding. Increase skills with brazing and cutting. TIG and MIG May be included along with heliarc welding in all positions. With the instructor’s approval, student will be eligible to take State Certification test for structural welding (vertical and overhead). Certification test extra. Prerequisite: Welding Beginning or experience. Book supplied from previous prerequisite course. Student must provide own welding gear.
