Introduction
Futurism An artistic and social movement that originated in Italy in the early 20th century. It glorified themes associated with contemporary concepts of the future, including speed, technology, youth and violence, and objects such as the car and the airplane. Filippo Marinetti was the founder of the Futurist movement and wrote the Futurist Manifesto in 1909 which proclaimed a rejection of the past, and advocated the modernisation of Italy.
