United Way

The Power of Giving, featuring why each donation counts and goes towards a person or family in need within our community, is our mission at UWSV, bringing together individuals and resources to build a stronger, healthier, and more compassionate community.

“When you donate to the United Way, each dollar you give is going toward helping someone in our community,” said Jennifer Anchors, United Way of Suwannee Valley’s Executive Director. “We are all part of this community and by pitching in and giving together, we can start to see a big di erences within our own communities.”

The UWSV wants each person to realize that if they donated $2.75 – or the average price of a cup of co ee – per pay period, they would end up donating roughly $75 per year. Now here is where The Power of Giving emerges – imagine if 10,000 employees from around the North Florida area donated the same amount, the community could see roughly $750,000 donated to charitable needs in the community. This is The Power of Giving. Will you join us as we work to advance the common good of our community?

Our campaign theme this year is “Give Where You Live.” We all have an opportunity to contribute to building a strong community through time, talent and money. Contributions from any one or a combination thereof are utilized for the bene t of the community. Our fundraising goal is $500,000. The goal is to make every e ort for our United Way to make the best possible impact on the wellbeing of our community.

The health of our community is important to invest in. In our current climate, health is not only physical, but also nancial and educational. Jennifer Anchors, Executive Director of the United Way stated, “I know more people in our community are hurting, now more than ever and they need your help. We all want to help, but often I hear questions or statements like, “I’d help if I had the time” or “Where are the greatest needs?” United Way can take the burden o of donors having to decide where to give.”

e Power of Giving

We are all part of this community and together we can make it succeed. At United Way of Suwannee Valley we believe that UNITED we can make change happen… one day at a time.

“When you give to United Way, donors can be sure their hard earned dollars go to agencies who have been vetted by volunteer community members and that United Way makes sure all donations are used e ectively in our community.”

“The United Way campaign is so important to our community, especially during this pandemic. So many families have been impacted in various ways, and have had to reach out to United Way agencies for help. Without the United Way agencies and campaign, a lot of needs would not be met in our county,” according to Shayne Morgan, Director of Columbia County Emergency Management and United Way Board Member.

The funds raised from our community investment Campaign come from companies and individuals either directly or through payroll deductions. Many businesses give their employees an opportunity to donate via payroll deduction, making it easy to donate the average price for a cup of co ee each pay period.

United Way of Suwannee Valley invites all community businesses and residents to participate in the wellbeing of our community and ask that you support the United Way of Suwannee Valley campaign, which provides nancial support for 10 partner agencies and our local United Way community impact initiatives. By giving, you are helping these agencies provide necessary health and human services ranging from services for children and their parents including after-school and youth programs such as Suwannee Police Athletic League, to senior services such as Columbia County Senior Services. Nonpro t agenices are able to apply for funds from the community investment campaign each year. A committee of volunteers review these applications, identify gaps of services in the community and award these dollars accordingly. How can you give back in your community? UWSV has many opportunities to give back, including through individual giving, workplace campaigns and volunteering.
