LetterfromthePresident 2023-2024

Dear Friends,

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our donors, friends, volunteers, and community partners who continue to stand with us in the fight to end domestic violence. Your unwavering support has made this past year another impactful one for Laurel House.

This year, we proudly celebrated two years of service at the Safe Haven Center – 198 new adults and children were sheltered this past year

Additionally, we are excited to announce that construction is nearly complete on our renovated Transitional Housing building. The 200-year-old structure has undergone essential upgrades, including the conversion of one first-floor unit into two smaller apartments and the transformation of another unit into a fully ADA-accessible space. Once completed, we will be able to welcome six new families into Transitional Housing.

Our Counseling Program has continued to grow and expand its reach – Over 9,000 counseling hours for the 3rd year in a row.

The Community Education programs continue to raise awareness and foster prevention efforts – 6,915 students received domestic violence preventative education

This year also marks a significant transition for Laurel House Our long-time Executive Director, Beth Sturman, has announced her retirement. Beth has been an incredible leader over the past 19 years, and her dedication to our mission has left a lasting legacy We are grateful that she will continue to assist with the leadership transition until the end of October 2024. Personally, I will miss working with Beth.

I am equally excited to welcome Stacy Dougherty as our new Executive Director. During a thorough search, Stacy rose to the top of the field. Many of you know Stacy through her 15-year history at Laurel House holding various roles, most recently, Deputy Director We are excited and optimistic about the next chapter

It has been an honor to serve as the President of the Board of Directors for the past three years. I am delighted to introduce our new Co-Presidents, Melissa Pilong and Jason VanBuskirk, who will continue to guide Laurel House with their vision and passion

As we look ahead, we are thrilled to announce that our Domestic Abuse Response Team (DART) will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2025, a testament to its impact and longevity in supporting survivors.

Finally, we are excited to celebrate Laurel House's 45th Anniversary in 2025 – a milestone made possible by the incredible support of individuals like you.

Your continued partnership is vital as we remain focused on our mission to Rebuild Lives and Restore Hope. Together, we are creating a safer and more compassionate world

Wishing you health and happiness,

YourSupport
