LetterfromthePresident 2022-2023
Dear Friends,
Another amazing year of providing services at Laurel House, thanks to our donors, volunteers, and community partners who support us with their time, talent, and resources With support of our community, we continued to:
Provide a Safe Haven: Donations have helped us maintain a safe and secure shelter where survivors find refuge from their abusers and begin their journey toward healing (5,634 days and nights provided of emergency shelter).
Empower Survivors: Through our counseling (over 9,000 counseling hours for the 2nd year in a row) and support programs, survivors have gained the tools and resources they need to rebuild their lives with strength and confidence
Raise Awareness: Together, we have raised awareness about domestic violence in our community, schools (369 presentations to approx. 8,800 students), and hospitals ensuring that more people are educated about warning signs, prevention, and available resources.
Crisis Response: Support from you allowed our Domestic Abuse Response Team (DART) to respond to 693 calls from Law Enforcement and Hospitals.
Laurel House continues to look for ways to serve more clients and this year we will be expanding our transitional housing building to help more families in need in Montgomery County The current building needs renovations, including converting one of the first-floor units into two smaller apartments and making the other first floor unit fully ADA accessible. Construction will begin in January 2024 with a goal of completion by mid-summer. We are looking forward to helping 6 new families move into Transitional Housing when the renovation is finished.
As we look ahead to the upcoming year, our commitment to ending domestic violence remains unwavering Your continued support is crucial in our efforts to create a safer and more compassionate world as we continue Rebuilding Lives and Restoring Hope
Wishing everyone health and happiness,
Respectfully,
Brian Taylor President of the BoardOurPrograms&Services
