Hi Hornet Fam!

May is just such an easy breezy time…said no parent ever. So as this academic year comes hurdling toward the end, I’ll keep it short & sweet. Three things:

1. Wear your (long awaited) Jog-a-thon shirt next Wednesday 5/22! We want to take a huge group photo in chapel with contest winner, Griffin Oldroyd.

2. Volunteers needed! We are still needing help with the Elementary Instrumental Concert on 5/29 & also with Used Uniform drop off in carline. Please click below on PTO Live doc to sign up.

3. SAVE THE DATE - we are in the process of setting up a final night of celebration at Laurel Tavern on Tuesday 5/28. We want to honor all the chairs, the room parents, the donors that have helped make this year incredible. But we’re opening it up to everybody! Let’s raise a glass together, shall we?

Thank you as always for the support!

For all things PTO follow @laurelhallpto on Instagram. DM (direct message) your student name and grade so we can accept your follow request.

The Emmanuel Lutheran Foundation Supports Key Initiatives at Laurel Hall: Kindness Week and New Social Emotional Learning Curriculum

The Emmanuel Lutheran Foundation is proud to support two significant educational initiatives at Laurel Hall this school year: the successful execution of Kindness Week and the implementation of a new Social Emotional Learning Curriculum.

Through the Foundation's grants, Laurel Hall's students from Transitional Kindergarten through eighth grade participated in Kindness Week, engaging in various activities aimed at promoting kindness and inclusion. Notable events included "Secret Hornet" bracelet-making, the creation of a "Chain of Positivity, " inspiring speeches from Pastor Tatum and youth speaker Brian Williams, "ODD Socks Day" to embrace diversity, and the "Wrinkled Heart" activity to teach about the impact of bullying.

In addition to Kindness Week, the Foundation's support enabled the introduction of a Social Emotional Learning Curriculum for the youngest learners at Laurel Hall This program, featuring engaging stories and themed plushies, teaches students to manage emotions effectively. Stories like A Little Spot of Belonging and A Little Safety Spot at School have been particularly helpful, equipping students with the skills to approach safety drills with confidence.

The Emmanuel Lutheran Foundation is delighted to have played a role in these initiatives, which enrich the educational experience at Laurel Hall and reinforce a commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive school community.

If you would like to make a gift or request information about the Foundation, please contact Luke Schaeffer at 213-248-4678.
