Laura Ortiz is a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner in New Jersey. She is currently practicing Emergency Medicine in Trenton, NJ. At the young age of 17 years old, Laura began working as a nurse's aide at skilled nursing facilities and subacute rehabs. She worked as a Patient Care technician in the Emergency Department in 2013 and her love for emergency medicine grew until she became a Registered Nurse in 2015. Laura possesses an Associate in Nursing Degree (ADN) from Kean University, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from Kean University, and a Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from Rutgers University. She has won many awards during her long nursing career and many scholarships. Laura enjoys helping others heal, learning about their health, and promoting a healthy lifestyle to the fullest. She is a strong advocate for mental health and personal well-being. In 2017 she volunteered for a trip to bring medical care to an underserved community in Haiti. In addition, she also volunteered in the U.S Virgin Islands to relieve the overworked nurses recovering from Hurricane Irma. What many people don't know about this very accomplished DNP is that one of her greatest passions involves helping others discover and face their fears- no matter what they are. She is a survivor of depression, sexual abuse, and has faced numerous obstacles with harsh immigration laws as she is a first-born Mexican-American. She believes in kindness, being family-oriented, and overall has such an excitement for living.
