Constantin Iftime: Eram în şcoala generală, prin clasa a VII-a, când am optat pentru literatură. În satul meu natal aveam un profesor de literatură care voia să mă facă scriitor. Periodic mă întreba dacă vreau, căci constatase - cum ştia el? - că am talent. Într-un sat în care nu era lumină electrică, venise acest profesor, cu filologia terminată şi student la filozofie.
