The story“deliciousness served with graciousness.” Handcrafted bread, stone encased applewood fire oven, fresh, local, and organic ingredients, artisan cheeses, global wines, rubs and sauces, cutlery, cookbooks, and classes. His customer is venturesome, contemporary, and social; a Pacific Northwesterner. The mood- eclectic comfort.

Abstract- thinking about a landscape that could be journeyed through on a hike, it is the landscape that determines the trail. So, the program for Bremerton ambulatory clinic serves as the landscape, and the community will go on a journey through the building. This journey is developed in two parts; elements of the journey and the engagement of the senses. The story- elements of the journey are inspired from the hike which include paths, elevation, refuge, discovery, and prospect. These elements are experienced through the five senses; sight, sound, touch, smell, and taste.

The result- engagement of the built environment and the senses create a journey that promotes well-being. Derived from the concept, the notion of the hike, well-being will be achieved through connection to nature, dynamic light, comprehensible spaces, a sense of community and place, as well as a meaningful journey. Glaciers created “scab lands.�
LaCrosse, WA, and the Ice Age Flood Institute are working together to combine information on the regional ice age floods with a welcoming visitors center for the town. The goal was to utilize a cargo box, make the site sustainable, visibly and graphically exciting with a focus on shared community space.
“Glacier� structure allows for protection from the elements as well as visual appeal related to the concept of the ice age floods.
Tempered glass allows for natural light, addressing the need without having to install electricity. The striping reflects the natural formation of canyons including sediment layering and water erosion.

Tessellation and Extrusion Details

The goal- to explore parametric design. Through the iterative process the overall form of the pavilion represents the undulating waves of the ocean, creating multidimensional light play. From this relationship a natural algorithm was recognized, voronoi. The story- LuxMotus, meaning light movement, inspired by the light and movement found in the relationship between the sky, surface, and sub-surface. LuxMotus plays with light, form, and perspective to create different experiences within the structure. The pavilion provides refuge and an immersive sensation using tessellation and extrusion techniques.

The goal of this project was to design a master suite for a fictional character- tapping into their personality, wants, and needs- and translating this into a design. Using rendered plans and elevations, a character box is created in order to further understand the design dimensionally. Finally, using the design to create an advertisement for this fictional character master suite. Result- understanding the client/brand and connecting design through storytelling throughout various phases of the design process.
