Matt Rutherford and Ocean Research Project The accumulation of plastic trash is a huge problem for our Earth’s oceans. Matt Rutherford and Ocean Research Project are teaming up with W.D. Schock to complete the first-ever continent-tocontinent marine plastics survey. Matt will be sailing 6,500 miles nonstop from California to Japan with scientist Nicole Trenholm on a Harbor 29. Matt and Nicole will be conducting research along the entire route and also filming the expedition for a marine plastics documentary that will be released in 2015. The expedition will leave from the Strictly Sail Pacific boat show. Come listen to Matt’s seminar and meet him in person at the W.D. Schock tent.

A carbon composite construction monohull, she is 11 stories tall and 84-ft long. Now based out of San Francisco’s Pier 39, USA 76’s sailing program is led by Brad Webb, a five-time America’s Cup veteran.
