In order to ensure a thoughtful application process, the university advising office recommends students follow this general timeline. This plan may vary with students’ unique university plans, so make sure you discuss your personal timeline with your university advisor.

Senior Year (G12)

September-November

• Meet with your university advisor. • Update your list of colleges in Maia. • Register for any additional standardized tests you would like to take in the fall of senior year. • Explore admissions websites for the schools you are considering and check their requirements. • Create application accounts (such as the

Common App, UCAS, school-specific applications, etc. if not already done) and begin working on your applications. • If you are using the Common App, match your Common App and Maia accounts. • If you will be applying to Oxford,

Cambridge, or medical/dental/veterinary programs in the UK, submit your UCAS applications by October 1st. • Continue to draft other college essays. • By mid-September notify your university advisor if you will be applying to an Early

Decision (ED), Early Action (EA), or other universities with October 1, November 1, or November 15 deadlines. • Submit Application Notification Forms (ANFs) to your university advisor by the internal deadlines. • Check the TV screens, your emails, and

“Visits” under Events in Maia for the list of university reps that will be visiting LAS, and meet with those reps when they are here. • Keep your university advisor up-to-date on your plans. • Consult financial aid requirements and deadlines for each school to which you are considering applying. These deadlines may differ from university application deadlines. • Complete applications.

December, January, and February:

• Complete Applications. Per the LAS

Student Handbook, students are expected to complete all their university applications before the December break of their senior year • If you have been accepted Early Action (EA) or Early Decision (ED is a worldwide agreement), please let your university advisor know. If you have been accepted

ED, you must immediately cancel any applications you have submitted to other universities. • If your application has been deferred by a university, please talk with your university advisor about next steps.

March and April:

• As you receive each decision, please notify your university advisor and update

Maia. • If you are placed on a waitlist, see your university advisor to review your options. • If you are applying to universities in

Australia, Japan, or South Korea, you will likely be completing your applications for those schools during this time period.

May-July

• For US universities, you have until May 1 to make your final decision (except in the case of an ED acceptance). You must pay the enrolment deposit by May 1 to hold your enrolment. • NOTE: Double depositing is unethical and will not be supported by the LAS university advisors. It can also result in the loss of all acceptances. • Accept a Conditional Firm and Insurance choice in the UK by the deadline in UCAS

Track. • Once you’ve made your decision and submitted a deposit, notify other universities you will not be enrolling. • Contact your university advisor by email if you miss your IB/AP conditions in July.
