JR Ranch Angus Bulls - Lots 51-103

It was a good day when I bought a son of a Tim Ohlde bull named Paxton. My cowherd would not be where we are today without his influence. We are still using him and will continue to do so. If you have never used an OCC Unmistakable 946U son, you need to. He was the best one I’ll ever use. 03/03/2008-01/26/2023. It was a good run. Rest easy old boy.........Jeff Schmidt

This is the 13th year in a row we have sold one or more sons of OCC Unmistakable 946U here in this sale barn. The old bull has certainly become well known to so many programs that have benefited from his influence over the years. He made cattle that rose to the top of contemporary groups they were born into, time and time again. 189J’s dam is a cow that earned her stripes at Loomis Cattle when Todd Bayless was there. I had the opportunity to purchase some embryos from 4183 a few years ago and no, this is not the first time her sons have led off our sale here in Othello. I believe this bull is for real. He has the lineage to be a powerful maternal superstar. Selling ½ interest and full possession.

A very well-mannered individual that comes from a great family of cows that have been doing things right for a lot of years here. The 4X13 cows are so good in so many ways it’s difficult to describe on paper. The Emblazon females are a solid foundation for any program that needs easy fleshing cattle. This rascal is going to leave daughters that you’ll love.

The Truman 447 sons have charged to the forefront here recently with 80F and his success here. Offering less birthweight and consistent phenotypic quality have made them popular cattle. They do so many things correctly that we are just beginning to realize their importance in the total picture. 16J is unique with his +14 $EN value, placing him in the top 2% of the population. Combine that with a $M of +80 and his +10 CED and a -1.1 BEPD and I think you have a superstar in the making. He’s good-natured, deep-sided, rock solid and goes back to the 510T cow that has been a consistent producer of pure power. Don’t overlook this bull. He’s one of the promising heifer bulls to leave the JR in quite a while.

The Truman 80F bull is doing a fantastic job here for us. His first set of sons was as good and consistent as any bull that has ever walked here. He is just good in so many ways. 96J is easy on the eyes and a well-balanced individual. Smooth made and athletic, he should travel bigger country and look good doing it. Putting Charlo and the old Thriller bull on the bottom give me confidence in the udder quality his daughters will possess.

A well balanced 80F son that offers a bit more frame and scale, he’s sound made and goes back to the 534U Emblazon daughter that is still going strong at 14 years old. He is bred to sire productive, long-lasting cows that you can build around.

Moderate and thick ended, this 80F son comes from a great uddered daughter of our Rito 7075 son. These cows are nearly impossible to shake out of the tree. They breed back, raise nice calves and have looked consistently good in the process. 50J stands on a good set of feet and legs. He’s ready to go to work.

Big weaning ratio on this guy of 116 gets your attention. If pounds are your goal, then a bull like this deserves consideration. He is stout and moves with authority. His first calf heifer mom bred back naturally and calved at 360 days as a 3-year-old. I have learned to appreciate the 2-year-olds that breed easily. They tend to turn into old cows here more often!

This big brute was raised by Ken Gross and weaned at a whopping 815 lbs at just shy of 7 months. The HB56 Recharge bull was a bruiser. We lost him last winter so these few and a handful more are his only sons that will be sold. Grab hold if performance is what you’re after!

This long-spined bull is a full brother to our lot 52 bull. He’s got a little more frame to him and is just about as long-sided as they come. He stands on a solid set of feet that he can use to travel lots of miles breeding cows. Tie these brothers together and what a set of calves you can look forward to in the future.

Another solid son of the HB56 Recharge sire from Ken Gross. This stud weighed 805 lbs on the 24th of September 2021. His Capitalist dam has a beautiful udder and looks good while raising a big, solid calf.

This well-balanced, attractive son of 377F has the pedigree to do some great things. 5005, Unmistakable, Resource, 303, all show up. He performed well with an actual weaning weight of 715 pounds and walked across the scale with a yearling weight of 1090. Ratios of 109 and 108 respectively.

“5005”

This calf has been an eye catcher since last summer. Bred just like the 126J bull, he stacks 5005, the 303cow, Renown and Unmistakable all up front in his pedigree. His maternal granddam, 522U is still raising calves here at 15. 5005’s dam, 7126 is still walking at McCumbers in North Dakota at 16. Longevity will make you more money in this business than big numbers or new and exciting pedigrees, every time.

This guy is one of the really easy going heifer bulls in the sale and makes him an easy choice for someone needing a really attractive, good dispositioned bull for heifers. His super eye appealing phenotype combined with solid performance for a 71 lb. birthweight should put him right at the top of the list for heifer bulls.

Jr deliver 47J (ddP-m1P)

A sharp, classy looking heifer bull prospect here. OCC Deliver has a solid track record here and at Sackmann Cattle on heifers. We haven’t ever assisted one here out of a heifer. They come easy and are quick to get on the move, critical traits if you are going to calve when it might be cold.

Jr deliver 23J

A heifer bull that boasts a maternal side that is built for the long haul. Both 50P and 58W were used in our donor pool here because of their superior performance over time. The 41/97 New Zealand bull is renowned for siring cattle that stay in the herd for many years too. Save the heifers out of this bull and enjoy the results.

Here is the calf that I would tap as the sleep-all-night heifer bull. He brings 3 generations of proven easy-calving sires to the table and he is a well built bull with some quality good looks to boot!
