INNOVATING TOGETHER

Dear La Salle Community,

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, our faculty, and staff, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for being a part of our Lasallian family. Over the last school year, La Salle College Preparatory has “rebounded” from the pandemic in ways I could have never imagined. Our school has emerged stronger than ever, better positioned to support and foster the academic, emotional, and spiritual growth of the students entrusted to our care.

As the school year comes to a close, I’d like to express my thanks and appreciation to our outgoing principal, Mr. Jamal Adams, for his service and contributions over the last two years to our La Salle community. Mr. Adams helped lead La Salle through our return to campus and hybrid learning environment while also serving as an unyielding advocate for our Lasallian mission and Core Principles. We wish him well as he takes on his new role, where he will continue serving as a Catholic educational leader in the Los Angeles community.

While the 2022-2023 school year has come to a close, there has been much to celebrate! Our Academic Decathlon team secured world championship success at home and abroad, we launched two new Centers for Excellence, with the opening of our CARLOW Center for Medical Innovation and Center for Global Initiatives and Cultural Perspectives, our Girls Basketball Team secured their back-to-back CIF-SS Championship, we launched our Kohorst Field and Track Renovation Project, and much more. To say we are blessed is an understatement and I am truly honored to have the opportunity to lead our amazing school and bear witness to these outstanding accomplishments, achievements, and initiatives.

Moving into the next school year, I am eager to begin the search for our new principal, with Mr. Ernest Siy, our current Dean of Students, serving as Interim Principal while we conduct a nationwide search to fill this vital position. Mr. Siy’s strong administrative experience and leadership, with the support of our academic leadership team, will serve as a steady hand while this important search takes place. I am also very excited about the many opportunities the upcoming school year will bring for our school, from upgraded facilities and programmatic enhancements, to the launch of our next Center for Excellence!

As my third year serving as school president comes to a close, I continue to be amazed at what we can accomplish as a community, rooted and centered with our Five Core Principles and the spirit of St. John Baptist de La Salle. On behalf of the La Salle Board of Trustees, our administration, faculty, and staff, I thank you for your continued partnership in the education of your children.

Sincerely,

PERRY K. MARTIN, M.Ed. PRESIDENT
