Mayo es el “Mes Nacional de las Mascotas”, y llega en el momento perfecto porque la primavera y el verano suelen ser los meses más ocupados para los refugios de animales como el de Memphis Animal Services (MAS, por sus siglas en inglés). Una excelente manera de celebrar este mes es ayudando a las mascotas de tu comunidad. ¡Aquí hay algunas ideas de cómo puedes hacer eso!

ADOPTANDO

El Refugio Animal de Memphis (Memphis Animal Services/MAS) siempre tiene perros y gatos disponibles para la adopción. A muchos les ha ido bien con otros perros y/o gatos. Las tarifas de adopción oscilan entre $20 y $80 e incluyen esterilización/castración, microchip, vacunas, collar/correa y placa de identificación personalizada.

Memphis Animal Services always has dogs and cats available for adoption. Many have done well around other dogs and/or cats. Adoption fees range from $20-80 and include spay/neuter, microchip, vaccines, collar/leash, and customized ID tag.

Animal shelters have more than the four seasons of fall, winter, spring, and summer…we also have Kitten Season! Starting in the spring, and sometimes lasting through the fall, we will take in hundreds of orphaned newborn kittens who need round-the-clock care to survive. We rely on foster families for these adorable tiny felines. We also need foster families for dogs and puppies, who find the shelter environment stressful. We provide any supplies you need, and fostering is always free.

Volunteer

MAS always needs volunteers, and we especially appreciate bilingual volunteers so we can provide better customer service to citizens with limited English proficiency. We have activities in the shelter hands-on with cats, dogs, or with no animal handling, as well as remote activities you can do from home. The first step is a volunteer orientation.
