The program curriculum provides a strong practical foundation in construction management to allow graduates to be licensed to work in the construction and development field or establish their own construction business to build residences. The courses include the seven core competencies required by BC Housing to obtain a builder licence: Business Planning & Administration; Construction Management & Supervision; Construction Technology; Customer Service & Home Warranty Insurance; Financial Planning & Budget Management; Construction Legal Issues; and Relevant Enactments. Building Energy Assessor

Energy management is critical in any organization to better control costs and energy efficiencies. This program enables you to make informed decisions on energy-related matters. You learn techniques to identify needs; to plan; and to monitor implementation of energy management information systems, re-commission buildings, and finance energy projects. This program will also ensure you have a full spectrum of knowledge in building construction and building operations that is important in energy management decisions. These courses are approved by the Architectural Institute of BC (AIBC) for continuing professional development. Courses in this program may be taken individually.

Career Development Professional

The Career Development Professional Certificate program is a full-time, intensive program offered during the daytime. The focus is on Employment Services with nine courses that will teach the student about the career development theories, career planning and assessment, job search, job development, job search skills, group facilitation, and career program development. Students will also complete a workplace practicum. It will prepare students to work in careers such as case manager, career consultant, proposal writer, job search trainer, job developer, intake interviewer, employment counselor, or career practitioner. Courses in this program may be taken individually.

Construction and Development

This program provides skills and knowledge to conceptualize and complete construction projects on budget. Graduates gain a thorough understanding of the physical aspects related to residential properties, as well as specific issues surrounding construction projects and how to tackle these issues to ensure the project is kept on track. Instructors provide practical and relevant content for today’s construction standards. These courses meet continuing professional development points for home builders as set out by the Homeowner Protection Act, and the Architectural Institute of BC. Courses in this program may be taken individually.
