Mixing & Mastering EMPP1006 Utilizing programs such as Cubase and Reason, this course teaches students the art of mixing and mastering multi-track audio. Students will learn the process of interpreting and manipulating the mixer throughout the song as well as adding channel effects. Effects devices such as equalization, compression and reverb will be covered in-depth as they relate to both mixing and the final master. Mastering effects such as maximizers, stereo imagers and audio analyzers are also covered.
Songwriting EMPP1024 Discover the secrets of hit songwriting! Learn melody and lyric writing, harmonic structure and development, combining lyrics and music, as well as the collaboration process under the tutelage of professional singer/songwriter Deborah Holland (Animal Logic, The Refugees). The emphasis will be on pop, rock, R&B, and country songwriting. Students need to be able to play chords on guitar or piano and will be expected to perform songs in the class.
