01 CELTIC

This 20,000 square foot home features a unique design inspired by the patterns of Celtic knots. The exterior and interior of the home incorporates knot-work details, using tile work, metalwork, and textiles. The open floor plan and large windows allow plenty of natural light in the living areas. Additionally, the home seamlessly integrates indoor-outdoor living with multiple areas for entertainment and relaxation, that allow residents to enjoy the natural beauty of their surroundings.

The dimensional layout of the exterior is reminiscent of the layering found in the knots. Structural columns are implemented to add visual weight to the elongated exterior.

EXTERIOR

COURTYARD

The outdoor living areas in this modern home add an element of interest and versatility to the overall design. The large patios, decks, and courtyards provide ample space for entertainment, relaxation, and outdoor activities, and are perfect for hosting gatherings, enjoying outdoor dinners, or simply lounging in the sunshine.

The layout of this 20,000 sqft home was designed to be centered around an inner courtyard that influences a seamless transition of indoor/ outdoor living. Moveable glass walls are found along the inner boundary of the courtyard and can be opened up to extend the living areas.

02 MADDOX

TENANT IMPROVEMENT - RESTAURANT AND BAR

Maddox Biergarten’s design is a modern take on a traditional German Biergarten that uses design elements influenced by the historical Art Deco period. Applying Art Deco’s geometric patterns in a conventionally organic environment gives the space a modern twist and creates an intriguing design. This project implemented the fundamentals of Feng Shui, an ancient Chinese practice of using energy forces to harmonize individuals. This should create a welcoming and calming environment creating a sense of community, similar to traditional Biergarten.

FLOOR PLAN AND WAYFINDING

Provided with the building shell, this project required space planning for the entire space, including a commercial kitchen and back-ofhouse spaces. Upon entry, guests are guided with a tile path that meanders throughout the dining area.

Feng Shui is a traditional Chinese philosophy that emphasizes the balance and harmony between individuals and their environment. It is believed that the way a space is arranged can impact the energy flow and well-being of those who occupy it. One important aspect is the layout of the restaurant, which should be designed to promote the flow of energy, or chi. This was achieved by creating a clear and unobstructed path from the entrance to the seating area, and by avoiding sharp angles or corners that can disrupt the flow of energy. Lighting is used to create a warm and inviting atmosphere, and the placement of tables and chairs was designed to promote a sense of intimacy and social interaction among customers. Overall, the goal of incorporating Feng Shui into design is to create a space that feels peaceful, balanced, and harmonious.

04 THE COLONY

INTERIOR

High-end residential project located in The Colony neighborhood in Park City, Utah. This ski-in, ski-out mountain home is located at the bottom of the Park City ski resort. This mountain getaway was inspired to be a modern ski chalet.

UPSTAIRS LIVING AREA

The upstairs great room was tasked to be designed to accommodate a living room, game room, wet bar, and golf simulator. Leaning into the traditional chalet design, the living area is focused around a modern, linear fireplace to create a cozy place to gather and warm up in the winter season. The ceiling design is a modern take on a traditional log cabin. It provides visual weight to the tall ceilings to support comfort.

Designed to be a focal element, the wet bar is accessible from any part of the great room. The bar shelving was designed to connect the room by using the same wood finish as the ceiling.
