ctober is the month set aside internationally to raise awareness of early screening for the detection of

breast cancer, which continues to claim the lives of many women – and men – around the world. This year, the Kenya Cancer Association (Kencasa) and the American Women’s Association decided to observe Cancer Month in dramatic style. Women from all walks of life gathered at The Village Market on 31 October to have their hair shaved in support of cancer initiatives in Kenya. This emotional event made history as the very first of such initiatives in Kenya.
