Muthaiga Travel’s main office is located in Nairobi’s best-known residential area, Muthaiga, and it has a branch office at the 9 West building in Westlands.
This community luxury ecolodge offers an authentic classic safari experience while contributing to the preservation of the Maasai wilderness, wildlife and culture. It has received significant awards and was the first lodge to be gold-rated by Ecotourism Kenya. All water is collected from the rains, while hot water and electricity are supplied by solar technology.
The company was founded in 1988 by Klarissa Wills, who is the managing director. Klarissa has lived in Kenya since 1969 and knows the people and the country well. In 2013 she was joined by two partners/directors: Joy Ruo-Vogt and Mira Bid-Shah.
Highlights of the safari are a game walk with a professional Maasai guide and horse riding in the Green Hills of Africa as described by Ernest Hemingway.
