Garden and Food Waste YOUR KITCHEN CADDY WILL BE COLLECTED ON YOUR GARDEN WASTE COLLECTION DAY

Food waste: meat (cooked and uncooked), fish, bones, plate scraping, fruit, vegetables, bread, pastries, tea bags, coffee grounds, rice, pasta, beans and all dairy products such as cheese and eggs, including egg shells.

Garden waste: leaves, grass, weeds, cut flowers, garden prunings, twigs and small branches.

Bedding: from vegetarian animals.

What happens to your recycling... In 2011/2012 10,255 tonnes of paper, glass, cardboard, cans, plastic bottles and textiles were recycled and 10,363 tonnes of garden and food waste was composted. The recycling wagon is split into two compartments so the paper and cardboard are always kept separate from the glass, cans and plastic bottles.

Your collected recyclable materials are delivered to Middleton waste transfer station.

LANCASTER CITY COUNCIL HAS A TEAM OF ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS that can take legal action if you do not use your wheeled bins and recycling boxes correctly. This could result in you being issued with a fine.

Follow these easy steps to avoid a fine... ■ Take your wheeled bins and recycling boxes back onto your property as soon as possible after collection.
