heritage open days

Let’s celebrate and commemorate… 2014 is a landmark year for Heritage Open Days – Celebrating 20 years of putting local heritage at the forefront of community life. Over four days this summer, we’re looking forward to our most spectacular event ever – a unique celebration that brings our hidden history to life just for you – giving free access when normally there would be a charge. This year promises a more diverse array of events than ever before, join guided walks, discover secret gardens and even ring a bell or two. 2014 is also the 100th anniversary of WW1 and a few events have a WW1 theme including the King’s Own Royal Regiment Museum and other exhibitions. Whether it be buildings or walks, there’s something for everyone. Or simply pack a picnic and soak up the sunshine in your own special part of the Lancaster district; along the River Lune or overlooking Morecambe Bay.

Let’s celebrate our heritage.
