Northern Ireland is now in this weird position where it’s the only part of these islands that doesn’t have gay marriage. Over time it’s going to be inevitable, because Northern Irish couples can pop over to Scotland or pop down to Drogheda to get married, and that’s a position that’s going to be more and more difficult to maintain. If I was a gay in Northern Ireland I would approach a marriage referendum with real trepidation. GNI MAG | 44
