Hitting the High Soft Lob

Everyone wants to hit that high soft golf shot that lands like a butterfly on the green, or perhaps in the hole. You know, the one that Phil Mickelson hits on Sundays that makes everyone’s mouth drop! With the right information and some practice, you can, too! Follow the steps outlined on the next page.

1.Choose your higher lofted wedge club, the Sand Wedge or Lob Wedge will do.

2.The position of the ball is more towards your lead foot and below the logo on the left of your golf shirt (for right-handed golfers, right chest for left-handed golfers).

3.Then, ensure your nose is forward over the ball which will open your shoulders towards your target.

4.As you take your swing, let your arms swing in the direction your shoulders are pointed, which should be left of your target (for right-handed golfers). This will keep the face more open to the path.

5.To finish your swing, the club face will be open with the butt of the clubfacing towards you.

Remember, when you add loft you have to add swing speed. Practice to see how much backswing you need for the distance of your target.

Following these steps and allowing the swing motion to let the club head brush the turf will enable you to hit the high soft lob like a champion!
