Also in 1983, Fogle Insurance Group was founded by George D. Fogle, Sr. and headquartered in Charlotte. From its humble beginning in the midst of a turbulent year, Fogle Insurance grew under the founder’s leadership. From the start, the company has maintained a singular focus of insuring the Greater Charlotte Lake Norman Region. In 2000, the Fogle Insurance Group moved to its current location in Huntersville, where they find the neighborhood feel of the area to be a perfect match to its mission and how they approach business.

The company tries to make it simple and easy for its customers by functioning as a single source offering insurance coverages across three areas..... (1) Business Insurance, (2) Personal Insurance, and (3) Health & Life Insurance. They access a multitude of carriers which makes it possible to be specific on matching coverage to need.

An area where Fogle Insurance Group has developed specialized expertise in is Medicare Insurance.

“We take an individualized approach and ensure the member not only has great coverage but is fully comfortable with their plan choice,” stated Laura Finan, Benefits Consultant. “We have committed ourselves to finding each client a plan that works for the needs they have. This is extremely important since Medicare is not a system where one plan fits all. We sit down (or video chat in these days) with a client, explain the coverage options, and evaluate what is important to the client.”

Finan noted that it is quite helpful to see the same client year over year.

“It’s a great feeling to be able to adjust their plans to fit their changing needs,” Finan added. “Healthcare coverage is a huge part of a person’s life and budget. We try to maximize the coverage and also fit within their budget.”

There is a Medicare Open Enrollment period each year where individuals can sign up or change their coverage. This year, 2021, the period is from October 15th through December 7th.

“Open Enrollment is the busiest time of the year for us,” Finan said. “We like to meet with or speak to all clients to make sure they are aware of any changes to their plan and then make changes when needed. We do this by checking every single doctor the client sees, since some Medicare plans do work from a network of physicians. We also ask for a medication list – each insurance company has their own “formulary” or list of medications they cover and at what tier/price. This is one of the most helpful aspects we have in getting a plan that is right for the client’s specific needs. Outside of this time, we speak with our clients about the benefits of their plan as they see themselves needing more care.”

Medicare health and drug plans can make changes each year—things like cost, coverage, and what providers and pharmacies are in their networks— so it is important to keep track.

Smith works with employers to make sure their policies are up to date with employment changes and assists Medicare clients with benefit questions
