AwArd-winning community
“
Our students are very supportive of each other and take pride in our campus community. They are active and engaged and look for opportunities to make a difference—both on campus and off. It’s no surprise that they embrace community service with the spirit that they do and they do it together.

At Lake Forest college, community service is a big part of co-curricular life on campus. Lake Forest College is nationally recognized for outstanding community building. The College is the recipient of two awards from the Association of College Unions International (ACUI)*: “President of the Year,” for President Stephen Schutt’s support of “outside the classroom learning,” and “Outstanding Service Project of the Year,” recognizing the College’s programs and leaders that make a difference on campus and in the community. In addition, the U.S. government named Lake Forest to the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll three years in a row. * The ACUI is a nonprofit educational organization comprised of students and administrators of colleges and universities around the U.S. and in several other countries. Their mission is to develop a campus community through education, advocacy, and the delivery of services.
Students volunteer as tutors and mentors, lead sports clinics, facilitate reading programs, and prepare hands-on academic experiences for elementary school students through North Chicago Community Partners.
Lake Forest’s Relay For Life was awarded the American Cancer Society’s prestigious Top Net Income Growth and All-Star Awards. Student organizations hold events to raise money for a variety of charities.
