This course will help learners better understand the varied purposes of technology usage in the classroom and how to use technology for instructional purposes effectively, student communication of learning, and assessments. Learners will focus on how to select the appropriate technology for certain tasks by applying the skills and concepts of the course to a unit plan design that utilizes a variety of technological applications. Learners will design instruction, student assignments, and assessments that help students think critically and technology enhance the learning experience. Learners will explore different models for incorporating technology (TPACK, SAMR, T-3) while developing their own beliefs about the purpose of technology in learning.

In this course, we will learn and practice skills using Google Applications for Education to prepare for taking the Google Certified Educator Level 1 test. Study guides and example problems will be supplied, and the course will culminate with taking the test. This class is geared towards students with a working knowledge of Google Applications for Education. Students will prepare for the Google Educator Level 1 exam, which costs $10 (payable via credit or debit card) to register for the exam. You must have a Google account either personal or through your district.

In this course, we will learn and practice skills using Google Applications for Education to prepare for taking the Google Certified Educator Level 2 test. Study guides and example problems will be supplied, and the course will culminate with taking the test. This class is geared towards students who have passed LEVEL 1 GOOGLE CERTIFICATION. Students will need $25 (payable via credit or debit card) to register for the exam. You must have a Google account (either personal or through your district).

Despite the fact that students are digital natives and have only grown up in a time of technology, they often are not digitally literate. Digitally literate students have the digital citizenship skills to manage their digital lives and footprints. In this course you will learn how to teach students how to find credible sources online, deal with cyberbullying and drama, maintain their digital footprint and online identity, understand privacy and security, and learn how to balance media usage In addition, a focus on how to prepare students with 21st century skills of collaboration, communication, and problem solving will be addressed. Participants will create a culminating project that incorporates digital literacy and citizenship skills within the classroom in a meaningful way.

With the explosion of artificial intelligence software in the last several months, teachers face a new concern regarding academic integrity. Through blended learning, this course will help teachers develop new academic integrity policies–while keeping it aligned with their district’s policies, investigate some of the more popular generative AI platforms and their classroom implications, and explore the ways in which AI can be helpful to teachers. In order to achieve the course goals, we will also dive into the difference between cheating and using resources appropriately in order to complete classroom assignments. By the end of the course, teachers will have considered the ramifications of AI for both them and their students and have a firmer grasp on this evolving technology.
