The participants will understand foundational tenets of social emotional learning and evidenced based research on the impact of SEL on student achievement and behavior The participants will be able to assess the level of SEL implementation in the classroom/building and understand strategies for how to grow an SEL presence in their educational space.

This course will focus on how to integrate SEL into the academic content through practical strategies and evidence-based practices. Participants will know the state SEL standards and why SEL is considered one of the four domains of learning. Participants will also know the imperative reasons and rationale for why SEL and academic content should be integrated rather than stand alone components of a rounded educational experience. The participants will be able to embed SEL skills into lesson development that align with the state SEL standards and academic content.
