Historic trophies find a new home Swimming trophies from the 1970’s onwards were dumped on the pavement when reconstruction began at the Tzaneen public swimming pool in Crown Street more than a year ago. The site foreman, Mr Jan Ludick, found them. Realizing their historic value he handed them in to the Bulletin newspaper across the road. An article about the recovery of these tarnished and battered silver trophies was published in the newspaper. Reaction came from Unicorn Preparatory School, who said they would like to care for the trophies. After consultations with other interested parties, the Bulletin decided to hand the trophies to the school, to be preserved for generations to come. The school’s headmaster, Mr Ian Houston, said that Kabod Manufacturing Jewelers would now restore

Netball: Stanford’s netball girls had an extremely
successful trip to Treverton. On paper, the first day appeared to be the toughest. Last year SLC lost narrowly to Amanzimtoti and this was SLC’s first match for 2016. The girls walked onto the court with confidence and determination. This proved to be the recipe for success, as after 40 minutes the match ended 29-16 to Stanford. The following match was also tough, against Kloof! Again the girls fought hard and never let their heads drop, with a nail-biting end, finishing one goal ahead (20-19). The next day started off slow and the girls lost against De la Salle in the last minute by one goal… despite this loss, the
