IS

LA CONDESA?

(And why you would love her)

1.

THE BRAND

La Condesa creates one-of-a-kind jackets that

make people feel beautiful, cheerful and confident. We have been around since 2009, when we made our first jacket for a rock singer debut concert. From that time on we have grown to sell in more than seven shops and to send dozens of jackets through our online store to clients worldwide. We appreciate craftsmanship, artfulness and those clever little details that make you fall in love with a garment.

La Condesa means The Countess. Every collection is inspired by a certain aristocrat that left a mark in the history of European most remarkable and extravagant aristocracies. The regal insignia is an attractive implication towards glamour and wealth, because we are all seduced by delusions of grandeur. Although these particular Countesses are more often drawn by champagne and scandals than by tea and reputation. The name comes from a variation of the designer's family surname (Conde) as a tribute to her origins and her mother, the person who taught her to sew.

Proudly made in Spain. Everything in La Condesa, from the providers to the jacketmakers, is Spanish. Legacy. We believe in discovering and keeping the know-how from our previous generations. We are drawn by honesty, sincerity and fun. We love fashion, we enjoy fashion.

2.

THE DESIGNER

Marina Conde was born in Spain in 1978. Daughter of a dressmaker and a physicist, thanks to her adventurous parents she got to live in Germany and Portugal during her childhood. At her late teenage years she was granted an International Baccalaureate scholarship by which she got to study at Atlantic College (Walles, UK). As part of her British education she worked for the community theater as costume designer. Once at university she combined her degree in Industrial Engineering and Business with workshops in fashion design at the Centro Superior de Diseño de Moda de Madrid (UPM). After several years working as a strategy consultant she took a year out to study a master degree on “Strategic Management of Luxury Goods” at Instituto de Empresa (IE, Madrid).

In 2008 she started a streetstyle fashion blog which soon became very popular. One day she posted her first creation (a female officer jacket) on her blog as a result of the trends she captured with her camera. The reception was unexpectedly positive and soon the first orders for jackets started to arrive. A collaboration with the designers of the Spanish brand La Casita de Wendy helped her gain the confidence to elaborate her first collection. Currently she is a member of the Madrid Fashion Week committee that is in charge of selecting upcoming young talents. She still updates her blog personally (www.vestidorconde.com) and has became one of the most influential ones in Spain with over 10.000 visits per week.

From BLOG to VOGUE During 2009 every new design was shown at the blog. One day, a Sgt. Pepper's inspired jacket is selected by Rolling Stone magazine to illustrate its Beatles special issue. After that, many other magazines and clients started to request La Condesa jackets.

In early 2010 Vogue Spain agrees to see the first collection. Three pieces are selected to appear in a photoshoot with legendary photographer Patrick Demarchelier and top model Anja Rubick. One month later La Condesa is featured again in Vogue as the new young talented brand that makes “it jackets”.
