Join us at the North Pole for a special visit with Santa & Buddy the Elf! Your family and friends will enjoy a kid-friendly breakfast buffet (for example: yogurt, muffins, fruit, cereal options, juice, hot cocoa, coffee, and more), special keepsake crafts, and even some Christmas magic! Each family will receive a digital professional photo with Santa too! (additional fee for additional poses.) Space is limited and this popular event sells out every year, so don’t wait to register.

The City of Lacey will be partnering with Lengua Rica to offer Spanish lessons Any one is welcome to register for “Beginning Spanish: Azul” however, all intermediate and advance classes require instructor approval

Please follow these steps:

Step 1: Call Lengua Rica (360-357-9924) for your desired difficulty and mention you are coming from Lacey Parks

Step 2: Once cleared, call Lacey Parks, Culture & Recreation at 360-491-0857 to register & pay for your class

SPORTS

Lacey Youth Basketball is back and offering more groups than ever! Your young ballplayer and the whole family can enjoy excitement and fun at the gym this fall as part of the Lacey Youth Basketball League! Whether it’s the happy moment of making the shot, or the joy of making new friends, your child will have a great experience. This program emphasizes skill-building and teamwork for girls and boys under the guidance of volunteer coaches Our league motto is “All Adults Working for the Benefit of All the Children” and our recreation staff provides support to ensure a positive atmosphere during league activities Games are played at local middle schools Practices are one weekday evening; games are on Saturdays

Volunteer a few hours a week for Lacey Youth Basketball and we’ll provide the resources needed to equip you with the knowledge for coaching basketball All volunteers must successfully complete an application, background check, screening, and training course Your reward (besides a t-shirt) will be the satisfaction of learning new skills, strengthening our community, and providing a positive activity for children!

40 Years of Wolf Rescue, Recovery, and Advocacy Program Description

In 1982, Steve and Linda Kuntz founded Wolf Haven International to provide a home for displaced, captiveborn wolves Wolves who, for the most part, had no other place to go Accredited by both the American Sanctuary Association (ASA) and the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries (GFAS), Wolf Haven has rescued and provided a lifetime home to over 300 animals in the past 40 years at their sanctuary locations in Tenino, Washington and Bridger, Montana. The organization also participates in federally managed

recovery programs for the red wolf and the Mexican wolf Join Wolf Haven’s Communications Specialist, Emily Evans, for a deep dive on the history of the organization and the work they continue to do to conserve and protect wolves and their habitat

Speaker Bio

Emily Evans was born and raised on the island of Kaua’i and grew up with a deep appreciation for nature and culture While earning her bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts from Allegheny College, she volunteered for animal organizations across the United States, Thailand, and Israel. Emily’s heart for animal welfare and wildlife conservation led her to work for the Glacier National Park Conservancy for several years before moving to Washington in 2021 to begin her career at Wolf Haven International. Emily is a member of the South Thurston County Historical Society and serves as board secretary for Launahele (a Hawaiian cultural organization) In her free time, she enjoys dancing, reading, baking, and creating fiber art
