‫أهال وسهال بكم إلى مهرجان ليفربول‬ ‫للفنون والثقافة العربية لعام ‪، 2015‬‬ ‫حيث وللمرة الرابعة عشر يجسد المهرجان‬ ‫العربي الرئيسي في المملكة المتحدة‬ ‫للفنون والثقافة العربية عبر ‪ 9‬أيام مليئة‬ ‫بالبهجة أفضل ما يقدمه اإلبداع العربي‬ ‫من الفنون المعاصرة والتقليدية‪.‬‬ ‫وموضوع هذا العام “تشكيل التغيير‪ :‬ما يزال العمل جاريا”‬ ‫سيرى فنانيين ومعلقين وجمهور يعالجوا كيف تتفاعل‬ ‫المجتمعات العربية في أنحاء العالم مع التغييرات المعاصرة‬ ‫في هذه المجتمعات‪.‬‬ ‫إننا ندعوكم في هذا المضمار للنظر في دور الفنون‬ ‫في القضايا اإلجتماعية والثقافية والدولية من خالل‬ ‫فعاليات خصصت لهذا الغرض مثل‪ :‬ندوة تشكيل التغيير‪:‬‬ ‫النساء والثقافة والفنون ‪ ،‬وندعوكم أيضا للتمتع بالفنون‬ ‫المرئية والراقصة ‪ ،‬والمسرحية واألعمال األدبية التي‬ ‫تتسامى فوق الحواجز اللغوية والمعوقات الثقافية‪.‬‬ ‫لقد أخترنا لكم برنامج غني ومتنوع للك الناس ومن‬ ‫مختلف المشارب لتتمتعوا وتتطلعوا بشغف لكي‬ ‫تغمركم السعادة ‪ ،‬وتحرك مشاعركم ‪ ،‬ويزداد إطالعكم‬ ‫وتتحدى قناعاتكم من قبل مساهمات الفنانين واألدباء‬ ‫المشاركين في البرنامج الغني لعام ‪.2015‬‬ ‫شكرا‬ ‫طاهر علي قاسم إم بي إي‬ ‫رئيس المهرجان‬

Featuring performances from the Yemeni Musical Group Birmingham, Aziza, up and coming artists from Liverpool Arabic Centre, and home grown local Brazilian drumming group Katumba. In partnership with Liverpool 1578 and Granby Toxteth Development Trust.

Silent Voices Elaine Stapleton Unity Theatre | FREE Everyday life Bil’in, a village in occupied Palestine, as seen through the eyes of children. Under the guidance of the Liverpool-based photographer Elaine Stapleton, children from the ages of 8 to 18 were given a camera. Sheffield Steel, Yemeni Dreams (15) Directed by Emma Vickers & Cathy Soreny 34 minutes This short film tells the story of a generation of men, now entering old age, who migrated from South Yemen to Britain in the 1950s and 1960s to work in Sheffield’s burgeoning steel industry.

The President’s Man and His Revolutionary Son (15) Directed by Nawal al-Maghafi 30 minutes An exploration of the relationship between regime spokesman Abdu al-Janadi and his pro-revolution son, during the 2011 uprising. Through the story of these two men, al-Maghafi depicts a divided country trying to overcome a generation of dictatorship.

Symposium Shaping Change: Women, Culture and Art the Bluecoat | FREE, booking required In partnership with Savera Liverpool

What happens when female creative aspirations breach the boundaries of cultural norms? A unique event, focusing on the multiple challenges women of Arab culture face to participate fully in the arts. Facilitated by Nazir Afzal OBE, former Chief Crown Prosecutor for the North West of England, and tireless campaigner on issues relating to the rights of women. Four key female speakers add personal, academic and professional dimensions to the discussion: Amani Yahya will reveal her own experience as a talented young female Yemeni rapper, brought up in Saudi Arabia and now based in Sanaa, the capital city torn by conflict. Award-winning artist Rachel Gadsden will share her experience of creating cross-cultural visual dialogues with Arab women, many of whom have disabilities. PD. Dr. Elham Manea is a Yemeni/Swiss Associate Professor specialised in the Middle East. A writer, and a human rights activist, her latest publication is entitled The Arab State and Women’s Rights: The Trap of Authoritarian Governance. Steph Green is a Youth and Community Work Tutor at Ruskin, Oxford and a community practitioner who works with the everyday impact of international, institutional and interpersonal oppression. The event will also include spoken word performances by Yemen born, Liverpool raised poet and photographer Ameena Atiq.

475 - Documentary (15) Directed by Nadir Bouhmouch Amina Filali is a 16-year old Moroccan girl who committed suicide after being forced to marry her alleged rapist. Her tragic death dominated Moroccan and international media in March 2012. 475 tells Amina’s story, and explores the relationship between sexual violence and state repression.

Transit Game (15) Director Anna Fahr In the northern mountains of Lebanon, a Syrian man hoping to reunite with family torn apart by war encounters two Palestinian children. The children’s own stories of exile provide a glimpse into the uncertainties he must face as a refugee - having no base to return to and no country to call home. Tuesday 9 June 5 - 6pm

The Big Sunday the Bluecoat | FREE The closing celebration for this year’s festival brings an extravaganza of music, dance, literature and food from the Arab world, to the heart of Liverpool city centre. Back by popular demand, boundary breaking percussionist Simona Abdallah returns, with her fusion of ancestral Arabic rhythms, House, Electronica and World music. Al Awadhel Band featuring Reham Al-Hakimi will entertain audiences with traditional music from Yemen, while Egyptian singer/songwriter Nadya Shanab fronts world fusion band Aziza, blending Arab and Western sounds. There will be family friendly workshops and children’s activities as well as vocal performances from the young people of Liverpool Arabic Centre.
