Why we’re special 2013 is an exciting year for all at Donna Wilson. It marks the 10th anniversary of the company that Donna started whilst making odd knitted creatures for her final show at the Royal College of Art. The creatures sold out and since then she has built her business designing and making a collection of curious cushions, luxurious lambswool blankets, and a variety of products for you and your home. Originally from Scotland, Donna runs a studio and workshop in London. Her hardworking team knit, sew, pack and send out products to individuals and design shops around the world - 25 countries at our last count! Passionate about creating products that people can connect with, the studio is committed to making things that our customers will treasure. We use UK based manufacturers and suppliers, doing our bit to keep craftsmanship alive. In 2010 Donna won the coveted accolade of ‘Designer of the Year’ at Elle Decoration’s British Design Awards.
What’s new this year? Inspired by the great outdoors, the new collection takes us on an expedition through the countryside. Pull on your imaginary boots and join us for a wander through the wilderness... A smiling sun and peaceful moon peer out from knitted lambswool cushions. They join our Fox, Badger, Owl and Robin cushions which have been re-imagined in rich Autumnal hues. We’re delighted to introduce our first dinner service. The mid-century inspired Acorn collection of bone china plates, bowls and mug are made in one of the last remaining factories in Stoke-on-Trent. Our latest knitted creatures have come straight from the vegetable patch! Meet Billy Broccoli - he’s an 80’s kid who enjoys hip-hop and making mixtapes. Jasper, our carrot friend, has excellent eyesight and can see in the dark, opera-loving mushroom, Suki, is partial to a bit of whiskey while Neep (Scottish for turnip) is looking for love… All made lovingly by hand.
Colourful Fair Isle knits in soft lambswool will keep you wrapped up for a wander through the forest. Thick, warm snoods, Nordicinspired pointed mittens, extra-long scarves and cosy lambswool socks are snug and homely. We’ve also knitted some coordinating hats and scarves to wear with our Graph mittens and Circus arm warmers. A friendly caterpillar has also found his way on to a scarf to keep you company on chilly days. For the paper lovers, we have some brand new stationery. A boxed set of traditional wood and natural rubber stamps come with a two-colour ink pad and lots of different shapes to inspire you to create endless combinations of your very own woodland scenes and creatures. Leaf-shaped gift tags, and sticky tape with tiny birds feet and acorns makes giftgiving more fun! We hope you enjoy our ever growing range as much as we enjoy making them for you!
