WHY WE HOST THE TORONTO UBAN BOOK EXPO

With a focus on promoting authors, providing access to like-minded peers, and creating a warm and inviting book purchasing environment, the Toronto Urban Book Expo brings authors from across the continent together under one roof. The writersy are excited to share their projects and passions with a new audience, and eager to meet their peers, who have also been writing and creating cultural content, and they are ready to expand their readership.

Writers understand the unique environment in which they create, and the need to combine forces to gain exposure. Many of the participating authors do not have corporate publishing support, but rather have published, edited, and often designed their books independently. We host the Book Expo to create a unique enviroment of urban literary enterprise and celebration!

BENEFITS OF OUR EVENT

Kya Publishing aims to provide a professional, contemporary, and inviting venue for independent writers to thrive, develop writing careers, and increase their personal profiles. We look forward to seeing the exposure and impact of this event as the participants continue to grow. As a community supporter of the Toronto Urban Book Expo, you can help to contribute to the overall success of the event, as well as have an intimate connection to our audience and an opportunity to actively engage potential customers in this highly targeted demographic. Equally important is the ability to increase your company’s profile by leveraging the chance to inspire conversation about Toronto’s diverse community culture.

PAST PARTICIPANTS

Since our first book fair in 2014, featured speakers have included Toronto-based writers Dalton Higgins, Pamela Mordecai, Angelot Ndongmo, Dane Swan, and Sean Liburd. We have hosted this event at the Malvern Branch and the North York Central Branch of the Toronto Public Library, and have now opted to take our celebration down to the heart of urban Toronto, at this year’s selected branch: Parkdale.
