BLA 210 Studio I, Landscape Architecture Design Foundations
The practice of landscape architecture is a complex and integrative undertaking, encompassing a myriad of natural, cultural, and scientiďŹ c systems. Analysis, critical questioning, and design are all methods by which landscape architects arrive at creative, responsible solutions. This introductory deign studio explores foundational design principles central to landscape architecture. Three interrelated aspects of design are pursued: [1] the elements of composition and their formal and spatial manipulation, [2] meanings conveyed by formal choices and transformations, and [3] response to cultural and environmental forces in the landscape.
