IMA: Youth Wing organizes conference I

ndian Muslim Association IMA Youth Wing - Kuwait organized a grand Youth Conference on the Quranic theme, ‘Minaz Zulumati Ilan Noor (from Darkness to Light).’ at Masjid Al Kabeer, Kuwait City under the patronage of deputy Prime Minister for legal affairs, Ministry of Justice & Minister for Awqaf & Islamic Affairs and in association with the Grand Mosque State of Kuwait. This event was the closing day concluding ceremony for the various activities IMA Youth Wing had undertaken since last three months under the same theme ‘from Darkness to Light’. Mohammad Aslam, IMA President, in his inaugural address expressed that most of the human folks at present are plunging into deep darkness and therefore it is the duty of the Muslim Ummah to step in, and in particular this responsibility rests with the youth. The President of IMA Youth Wing, Arshad Habib welcomed all the participating delegates to the conference and presented the details of the conference and said that all the activities will revolve around the Qur’anic theme, ‘Minaz Zulumati Ilan Noor (from Darkness to Light).’ Jalaluddin Ansar Umri, President Jamat Islam-eHind and also a prolific writer, thinker of our age from

India who was the chief guest to the conference addressed the guidelines to the youths in his presidential address. He spoke on the subject ‘You are the Hope of the Dawn’ and advised the youths to be beware of the twinkling temporary life in this earth and should concentrate on building faith and character. Ameenul Hasan, a noted Islamic personality from India spoke on the subject ‘Youth Psychology and the Requisite Moral Character’, where he presented a lengthy discourse and stressed that the age between 23 to 55 is a productive period. This is the age where person can contribute to the world, he appealed to the youths to work for the community in various arenas and make their life meaningful and purposeful. Later while speaking on the subject of ‘from Darkness to Light’ he meticulously explained the difference between Darkness & Light in Qur’anic perspective. Malik Motasim Khan, eminent Islamic thinker from India delivered lecture on the subject ‘Islam versus & False Ideologies’ and ‘Twenty first Century Manifesto of Youth and Priorities’. Abdul Aziz, another well known personality from India shed light on ‘The brightest way of success’ through quotes from Hadith. Animated Tarana, spot Quiz Competition, Arts &

Science Exhibition were the attractions of the Conference. Waleed Al-Shuaib - Under-Secretary, department of Mosques, Ministry of Awqaf & Islamic Affairs appreciated the good work of IMA Youth Wing. Yusuf Al-Shuaib, Manager-Communities, Ministry of Awqaf & Islamic Affairs, Ahmed Abdullatif Al-Asfoor, Manager - Masjid Al-Kabeer, Abdul Hameed Al-Bilali, Chairman - Jamiya Bashayer Al-Khair, Khalid BaderManager, Jamiya Abdullah Al-Noori, Khalid Al-Saba Manager, Communities department IPC, Shaikh Ahmed Al-Dabbous - Prominent Scholar were on the dais. Shri Vinod Kumar, First Secretary, Information & Education, Indian Embassy was the guest of honor and lauded the efforts of IMA Youths and participated in the prize distribution. Prizes were distributed to the winners of Cricket, Volley Ball, Tug of War teams. Valuable Prizes were also given to the winning students of several Indian Schools winners in Online Essay Competition, Online Quiz Competition and Photography & Drawing competitions. Trophies were given to the winning schools. Zabi Khan supervised the prize distribution; Mujahid Umri convened the public program on the concluding day.

haikha Muneerah S J Al Sabah and Enrico Granara, Ambassador of Italy to Kuwait, will inaugurate next week’s premiere exhibition for various fine Italian ceramic arts entitled “Castelli in Kuwait”. Organised by “Sartoria Italia”, the 4-day unusual and exciting event will be open to the public on May 9 until 12, from 10AM to 9PM, at the Arraya Center. The exhibition will showcase precious ceramic works brought straight from Italy. Around 100 artworks entirely handmade with mixed colors requiring the greatest technical skills and a deep knowledge of traditional techniques will be exhibited to the public. Exclusive pieces from the international collection of ceramics that are originally displayed in Castelli’s Institute of Art, the Grue Museum, will be also exposed. Meanings, details and precision will play an impor-

tant role in this exhibition where the Italian artists will be present as well as other personalities who will be visiting Kuwait for the first time especially for this event. Authorities from Castelli’s Museum have earlier announced that they are delighted to send these artworks to Kuwait and hope that the various expressions of the Ceramic Arts will be a success. rtist Thuraya Al-Baqsami founding member of the European Artists Association, took part in the 18th international European artists symposium that took place in Essen, Germany in the period between April 11 - 25, 2010, which featured various artistic activities and displays presented by 32 artists from Germany, Poland, Hungry, Serbia, Finland, Australia, Turkey, Japan, and Scotland. The event further featured first participation from Saudi Arabia with artist Olla Hejazi, as well as from Oman with the head of the Omani Arts Foundation, Maryam Al-Zadjali, and artist Yousuf Al-Nahwi.

Furthermore, the event featured activities for children arts, in which several gifted kids displayed portraits for artists taking part in the event, while others painted wooden sculptures made by German sculptor Ralf Clement. An exhibition for the works that were displayed in the event was held at the House Ondtom starting from the end of April, which will take place there until May 9th before touring several German cities. The efforts of the President of the Association, Karola Teschler were played a significant role and making the event successful.

Visiting the breathtaking city of Petra also known as ‘The Rose Red city’, camping in Wadi Rum, swimming in the Dead Sea, visiting Mount Students Nebo the site of Moses death and burial place and sightseeing in Amman. The students and teachers enjoyed their trip and the amazing weather and look forward to next year’s overseas trip.
