#15 Self Care Every Child A Swimmer
• Keiser University is proud to have helped and advocated for the Florida Legislature to pass Every Child a Swimmer. The bill, which was enacted during the 2021-22 academic school year, encourages parents to register their school-aged children for swim lessons by having public school (K-12) systems in Florida distribute information on the important role water safety education plays in recreational swimming. The bill does not mandate or require swim lessons, but rather provides materials to parents about local options for age-appropriate water safety courses and swimming lessons, including classes offered for free or at reduced prices.
The Aquatic Center
•
As we continue our service to the community, Keiser University sees a tremendous opportunity to change lives by building a new aquatic center on the Flagship Campus. Once built, the facility will become a home for our NAIA National Championship swim teams. The men’s team has won four straight NAIA National Championships and the women’s team captured their first in 2022. A home facility will allow our teams to continue to achieve at the highest level for years to come.
The aquatic center will further enhance the sports tourism industry in South Florida, while providing a venue for Olympians and Olympic hopefuls to gather, train, and mentor. We are pleased to share that Olympians, Dara Torres and Ryan Lochte, and Solomon “Big Fish” Kindley of the Miami Dolphins are supporting our mission.
• The Keiser University Aquatic Center will become a place to offer life-saving swim lessons to children and families in our community.
