Have you ever received repetitious calls from annoying telemarketers and Internet providers? If you have a mobile phone, the answer might be “Yes.” And you probably, couldn’t call back and tell them to stop as they used hidden or restricted numbers to contact you. Unfortunately, mobile phone scammers do exactly the same. But instead of offering services, they call with a purpose to steal your personal and payment details. Your kids may also receive unwanted calls from restricted numbers. But unlike adults, they are in more severe danger, as, except for scammers, bullies and predators also use mobile phones to harass children and pressure them to do what they want. One of the ways to protect your kids from receiving suspicious calls is by blocking restricted numbers on their mobile devices. In this article, we explain how to block calls on iOS and Android. So, keep on reading for a step-by-step guide on restricting suspicious calls.

Why You Should Block Calls from a Restricted Number Would you use a restricted or hidden phone number if you want to communicate with your friend, colleague, or neighbor? Probably, no, as you want other people to be able to call you back. If someone uses a restricted number to contact your underage kid, they might be scammers, bullies, or predators. Below, you will find the main reasons to block restricted calls on your kid’s phone.

Bullying If your kid faces bullying at school, they are likely to be offended at home, too. Peers can harass their victim on the Internet by sending harassing messages and leaving offensive comments on their posts. Another way to bully someone remotely is harassing them by phone.

Scam If you read or watch the news, you know that many scammers take advantage of their victims by phone. They call from restricted numbers that are pretty hard to track and persuade naive individuals to share their personal information and credit card details. Kids are especially under threat of being scammed by phone, as frauds can easily intimidate them and pressure to share their physical address, ID details, and other personal data.

Abuse Researches say that about 59% of kids and teens willingly engage with strangers online and share their details on social media. Some of those strangers are predators who seek young victims to abuse. If your kid’s phone number gets into the hands of a predator, he is likely to call your child and pressure them to meet up, harassing to tell parents about their “friendship.

How to Block Restricted Calls on Android

Although you can’t prevent suspicious individuals from calling your kid, there’s an option to block incoming calls on their Android device. To do so, you can use one of the methods described below:

Option 1: Use the blocking feature Most mobile phone models have an option to block or restrict incoming calls. Use a blocking feature on your kid’s mobile phone by accessing its Security or Settings. If you’re not sure about your kid’s phone having a blocking feature, contact the manufacturer’s support representatives to find out.

Option 2: Contact mobile phone provider If you keep asking “how to block a restricted number,” request help from your mobile phone provider. Head over to their official website, contact support managers, and ask if they can block restricted calls. Note that you may need to pay a fee (depending on your provider’s policy).

Option 3: Contact the National Do Not Call Registry You can contact the National Do Not Call Registry to block a restricted number. The organization is supposed to protect people from annoying telemarketers and sellers. So, you can get help for free. However, you will keep receiving calls from charities, political groups, and businesses you deal with.

How to Block Restricted Calls on iPhone?

You can block unwanted calls on iOS mobile phones using two options: Call history and Do Not Disturb mode. Don’t forget to update your kid’s iPhone before using any of these methods.

Option 1: Call history 1. Find your iPhone icon. 2. Click the blue ? next to a restricted call. 3. Choose Block This Caller to block a specific restricted call.

Option 2: Do Not Disturb mode 1. Go to Settings and click Do Not Disturb. 2. Scroll down and click Allow Call From. 3. Choose who you want to accept calls from. 4. Turn on the Do Not Disturb button at the top of the page.

Blocking Restricted Calls with mSpy If your kid is bullied or harassed on the phone, you might not want to dig through phone settings or contact mobile phone providers and manufacturers every time they receive another suspicious call. As an option, you can use a parental control app, such as mSpy, to block restricted calls remotely.

After buying a subscription, all you need to do is to log in to your mSpy Control Panel from your smartphone and choose the calls you want to block on your kid’s phone. Additionally, you can monitor their messages, social media chats, view visited sites, track GPS location, and many more with the mSpy app. If you want to know more about its features and compatibility with your kid’s device, head over to mSpy.com. 5 1 vote Article Rating Getting Started
