The Blue Quartet comprises of Plauer lake, Fleesensee, Koelpinsee and the queen of all German lakes - the Mueritz. Each of these four lakes is impressive by its size. There are no locks and just a few bridges making this area an ideal region for houseboats. Enjoy the beautiful scenery, golden yellow canola fields, green avenues, bright blue waterways and historic cities. Fishing is excellent, the wildlife is superb and canoeing in the rivers is a lot of fun. We offer a number of one-way options between our bases in Germany. Mueritz and The Blue Quartet Our main location for boating holidays is right in the centre of this region, on the southeast shore of the Mueritz, Mecklenburg‘s largest lake. KUHNLE-TOURS is the biggest charter company in this region. 2500 kilometers of rivers and over 1000 lakes and canals are waiting for you. Almost untouched nature, cultural highlights and historic sights are there for you to discover. Enjoy the abundant wild flowers, and look out for rare waterbirds. Journey through lake after lake, each as beautiful as the last, but none the same. The Blue Quartet comprises of Plauer lake, Fleesensee, Koelpinsee and the queen of all German lakes: the Mueritz. Each of these four lakes is impressive by its size. There are no locks and just a few bridges making the area ideal for houseboats. The largest lake of the Blue Quartet is called the Mueritz covering 117 square kilometers. From Hafendorf on the Mueritz you can only see the north bank on the other side on clear days. There is plenty of space to have as little or as much space as you want. Travel ideas: Drive to the west bank to Roebel. It’s one of the prettiest destinations in the area. Whilst you’re visiting it’s worth climbing up to the church tower to view the panoramic views across the bays and the Mueritz. If you like good food, then visit the romantic Gutshof Ludorf hotel and soak up the wonderful ambience whilst experiencing the delights of their renowned kitchen. They are passionate about cooking with local ingredients. The hotel is a 20-minute walk from Roebel. At the north bank of the lake (Binnenmueritz) is Waren, the biggest city at the Mueritz. There are frequent events, such as the Mueritz Sail and open-air concerts which are great fun for locals and visitors. On your way to the Koelpinsee you can buy fresh fish at the Mueritzfischer in Eldenburg. From the Koelpinsee you can travel to Jabel. Between Lake Jabel and the Koelpinsee is the peninsula Damerower Werder. It's a special preserve for wild ducks and european bisons. At the south bank of the Fleesensee you can walk into Untergoehren and visit the holiday resort. It’s a great place for some holiday entertainment and good food. The golf club and the spa are popular. A little bit more western is the pretty monestary city of Malchow. This perfect location offers a beautiful view above the water in front of the Plauer See lake. In the south, the lake has some idyllic bays where you can swim in the clear, safe water. In the centre of Plau you can buy groceries and there are some good restaurants too. If the lifting bridge is open, you can see the Mueritz-Elde-Waterway on the way to Doemitz and Schwerin.

Elde, Schwerin and Schwerin Lake Above the blue band of Mecklenburg, along the Mueritz-Elde-Waterway, along the brewery city called Luebz you get to Schwerin. Schwerin is the capital city of Mecklenburg Vorpommern. For more information about the city, palace, gardens and museums go to www. schwerin.de/en Lower Havel, Elbe, Mueritz-Elde Waterway: Oneway to Mueritz Wide plains and wooded elevations characterize the Havel waterway to the Elbe. Through the expansive nature parks you will see a wide variety of flora and fauna. It is beautifully described in his "Walks" by Fontane and Herr von Ribbeck. This is a wide waterway with less locks and many lakes for swimming and anchorages. For the descent between Magdeburg and Havel mountain the water flows 5 kilometers Elbe per hour. It can feel like you are surfing! Doemitz

More than 1000 lakes MECKLENBURG AND BRANDENBURG LAKE DISTRICT
This area has more than 1000, largely connected lakes. The banks of the waterways are fringed by forests, meadows and marshes. Boating is a wonderful way to experience this beautiful countryside and the history of the area.

Upper Havel Waterway: Neustrelitz and Fuerstenberg In the northern part of the small lakes at the beginning of the Upper Havel waterway is Neustrelitz. This former residence of the Dukes of Mecklenburg-Strelitz has an impressive baroque square and interesting streets. With its cultural offerings (State Theatre of Mecklenburg, the unique exhibition "Resource Chamber Earth", Slavic Village) and good shopping, a visit is worthwhile. A walk through the castle garden with its large lawn and orangery is not to be missed. Between Neustrelitz and Fuerstenberg is the beautiful countryside along the Upper Havel. The banks are natural and are largely untouched. Look out for kingfishers and if you are very lucky you may see ospreys. There are many tranquil bays. The "Wasserwanderrastplatz" in Wesenberg offers a beautiful mooring. Hafendorf Mueritz Fuerstenburg offers a wide variety of things to do. There are many restaurants and in the old town you can admire the historic fishermen's cottages. A visit to the Ravensbrueck memorial provides insights into the recent history of the place. In Himmelpfort, stop and visit the old city and the Christmas post office. After Himmelpfort you are now entering one of the most beautiful sections as the Upper Havel gently winds between Himmelpfort and Burgwall. It is a unique place for nature. At the start of this waterway is Schorfheide, which is an unspoilt area of marsh. In this area even cranes and gray geese breed. Even if you have no plans to go towards Berlin it is worth making this detour to experience the route. Another worthwhile detour is to Templin. The old town has well preserved medieval city walls and a modern natural thermal spa will make a memorable day ashore. The historic drawbridge and lock are a couple of sights best seen from the boat.

Mueritz-Havel Waterway: Castle Island, Mirow and Rheinsberg The first highlight on the way from the Mueritz to Berlin is the former ducal residence, Mirow. Cross the moat and stroll through the park. Visit the baroque palace where the English Queen, Sophie Charlotte lived, and stroll to the Love Island. Before the completion of the Mueritz-Havel waterway, the Mueritz was connected to the small lake area over the so-called Old ride and the Bolter lock. Today, only the Lake is navigable. In the summer, the lilies are in bloom and a visit is highly recommended. A trip to the Rheinsberg waters leads to the Brandenburg town, made famous by the German poets Theodor Fontane and Kurt Tucholsky. The Rheinsberg Palace with its garden provides a unique backdrop from the boat. The Rheinsberg waters have numerous tributaries, lakes and bays and both beautiful and quiet anchorages.

Berlin
HOUSEBOATING IN THE CAPITAL OF GERMANY
Berlin Centre Many major cities are on the water, but only one can be busy with charter boats: Berlin. The city has a good network of waterways from bustling canals, small and large lakes and romantic waterways. In addition to numerous interesting shore excursions to travel by boat to the Chancellery and Reichstag is a major highlight for any visitor. There are 183 kilometres of urban waterways which offer a perfect network of roads with few locks. The city has twelve waterways in which you can reach almost any attraction in the capital. A license is not required to travel for our boats up to 15 PS / kW 11,03. The Berlin waterways are far easier than the motorways, … and is there any other European capital where you can "review" your rulers from your boat? By the way … your sightseeing does not incur car parking charges (or the hassle of finding a spot). You are almost always able to find a mooring in the city, what better than mooring comfortably on a silent river/canal bank (separated by trees from the rush of city life) BUT with easy access to all that Berlin has to offer – shopping, strolling, museums, great food in boutique restaurants. Potsdam City and surrounding area The Prussians have their own Havel. Flowing south under the Glienicker bridge it then turns to the northwest and travels through the vineyards and orchards to Werder. The Potsdam Havel has many moorings and boaters are welcome everywhere. Of interest are the castles at Potsdam, the world-famous Sanssouci as well as the interesting moorings at Einstein's summer house in Caputh, with the island town of Werder and its beautiful orchards and vineyards - well worth a stroll. Paretz palace, the former residence of the legendary Queen Louise is just a short detour, and the town or Ketzin is also worth a visit. Brandenburg town is also close by. The city is completely visible from the water and the centre has several good mooring facilities. Try not to miss the cathedral and museums which are worth a visit. 3650

Berlin Outskirts For anyone who has seen enough of the city, point your bow east or west. Going east enables you to go across lake Mueggelsee and to the charming Little Venice with its 5 canals and 13 bridges it is a delight. After Daemeritzsee the idyllic Ruedersdorfer waters and Loecknitz provide welcome entertainment. The clear water is perfect for swimming. Here you can explore the limestone quarries and visit the Ruedersdorf Museum Park, a monument of industrial culture. By going west along the Lower Havel waterway you go through Spandau and on to the Elbe.

Berlin in autumn (Kormoran 1140)
The Glienicke Bridge across the Havel River connects the Wannsee district of former West Berlin with the Brandenburg capital Potsdam (the former GDR District capital). During the Cold War, prisoners were exchanged here between western states and the Eastern Bloc. The first prisoner exchange was the basis for the story of the Bridge of Spies which became a film by Steven Spielberg.

Niederfinow shipNiederfinow lift: old and new one Boat-lift of
The Havel-Oder waterway is a commercial waterway, however the 400-year-old Finow canal is something quite different. This historical channel was lovingly repaired in the 90's and has since been awakened from its slumber. The shores are densely covered and lined with tall trees. There are hand-operated locks, many a gem of industrial architecture (riveted steel bridges, old forts and brick-memory) and channel banks densely covered in vegetation giving you the feeling of being in a different country. Visit the twelve gates of the Finow canal and admire the boat lift. Niederfinow is one of the oldest operating ship lifts in Germany and a fine example of exceptional engineering. Two boat lifts are next to each other and transport boats in a steel basin (trough) which goes up and down like an elevator. The new modern ship lift, next to the historic one, is now in operation. The old 1934 elevator (trough length 85 meters) is only be used for recreational boating, while the new long elevator is for next generation boats and can cater for lengths up to 115 m. Niederfinow is a true marvel and a magnet for visitors: schiffshebewerk-niederfinow.com. You can reach the boat lift via the Havel-Oder waterway. The Finow Canal will not be completely navigable from 2023 due to the renovation of the locks. The Werbelliner waters Close by the Biosphere Reserve is the water of Werbellin. It is reached by driving through the beautiful, lush Werbellin Canal. The water is of such good quality that it is able to serve Fischerstuben whitefish. You can either eat on the spot or buy and create yourself a great meal on your boat. Of course, you could also try to catch your own. Example cruises: out and back
The Dahme-chain of lakes In the southern outskirts of Berlin begins the Dahme-chain of lakes. You find our base at Zeuthen, the subway station is only a few minutes from the marina. The green shores of Lake Zeuthen and Sellzugsee hide the King's palace in Wusterhausen. At Prieros every boat crew is faced with a choice: Go right into the quiet waters of Teupitzer or left towards Storkow where you travel over several lakes and canals lined with water lilies. Eventually you will reach Fontane's "Maerkisches Meer", the Scharmuetzelsee, and the spa town of Bad Saarow. Since reunification this region has become increasingly popular. The Spree-Oder waterway Where Berlin stops in Schmoeckwitz, the Spree-Oder waterway from the Dahme separates. After a break in Seddinsee you cruise from the lock Wernsdorf on the channel to the east. Fuerstenwalde with its five hundred year old cathedral and the many games and fun activities for children is a worthwhile stopover on the way to the Spreewald. At Neuhauser you can quickly go to the next chain of lakes, leading to Schwieloch in Lower Lusatia. This lake has little traffic because the lake has no onward lakes and is a turnaround point. Continue along the Spree-Oder waterway, via Eisenhuettenstadt and reach the border between Poland and Germany. Sand banks and groynes shape the riverside going to the twin cities of Frankfurt / Slubice. This is a city rich in modern and historical culture. On the Warta River Estuary at Kuestrin, the Oder continues through natural floodplains and isolated riverside forests. In Hohensaaten the waterway proceeds to Szczecin Lagoon or turn west towards Zehdenick, Berlin or Mueritz.

No locks
Lake Kummerow Perfect for those with minimal experience the cruising route has no locks, hardly any bridges, very little current, but you still enjoy water lily bed, beavers and otters, as well as old Hanseatic towns and fashionable seaside resorts. The area is a mixture of calm rivers, idyllic inland lakes and sheltered coastal waters. The spectrum ranges from the gently rolling hills of Mecklenburg Switzerland to the marshy river landscape of Western Pomerania and the Baltic Sea island of Usedom with its beaches, forests and meadows. You can even explore the Szczecin Lagoon! Lake Kummerow and the Peene river landscape The largest lake in the area is Lake Kummerow, and the river is navigable from our new charter station in Malchin at Koester's Eck. In Kummerow it is only a few metres from the jetty to Kummerow Castle with its impressive photographic collection. The village of Neukalen can be reached via the Teterower Peene, which is well worth a detour for dinner. At Aalbude and Verchen, the route takes you along the "Amazon of the North": you can't get any more of a “nature” experience than this! Kingfishers, cranes, ospreys, beavers, otters and pike can be seen. Rare orchids, marsh irises and water lilies can be found on the banks and in the peat bogs that branch off regularly. Mooring stops abound at estates and the small villages offer overnight accommodation in complete tranquillity. The Hanseatic town of Demmin is located on the Peene in the so-called Dreistromland: this is where the Peene, Trebel and Tollense rivers meet. In addition to the medieval museum village "Hanseviertel" with its own jetty, Demmin offers good shopping opportunities as well as restaurants specifically at the Peene or the Lake at Kummerow, Gravelotte and Aalbude. Or how about dinner in the old railway station in Loitz looking down onto the boats. The erratic boulder in Liepen, the moated castle in Quilow near Stolpe and the Viking graves "Altes Lager" near Menzlin are also worth a visit. Once you arrive in Anklam, there are medieval churches and a Museum about the aviation pioneer Otto Lilienthal. For skippers without a boating licence (if a requirement in your home country), the exciting trip ends at the railway bridge in Anklam.

Trip to Poland
Wolgast Peenestrom, Achterwasser and Szczecin Lagoon For those skippers who have the required boating licence, the Peenestrom opens up behind Anklam. The wide Peene River is the westernmost estuary of the Oder into the Baltic Sea. It has two extensive bays: the Achterwasser and the Krumminer Wiek. Parts of the reedcovered shore are a nature reserve. The fishing harbour of Lassan and the small fishing village of Freest attract visitors with their fish restaurants. Wolgast is a traditional harbour town that offers several harbours, shopping facilities and a fantastic view from the tower of St. Peter's Church - including to Peenemuende with its special history. There, at the northern tip of Usedom, you can examine the history of German rocket research or visit a submarine in the historical-technical museum. The bay of Neppermin in the Achterwasser with its distinctive flora and fauna is just waiting to be discovered by boat. In Zinnowitz (jetty on the Achterwasser) you can admire the famous spa architecture of Usedom or travel to Wolgast, Heringsdorf or Swinoujscie on the spa railway. You can also get here by boat: the Old Swine (hardly used, but well buoyed), the middle arm of the Oder estuary, takes you to the seaside resort of Swinoujscie. From the Szczecin Lagoon, a detour to the eastern estuary of the Oder, the Dziwna, is also tempting. Towns such as Wollin and Kamień Pomorskie impress with their medieval churches, while Dziwnòw boasts the finest white Baltic Sea beach. To the south of the Szczecin Lagoon, east of Szczecin harbour, lies Lake Damm. On the way back towards Anklam, it is worth making a detour to the fishing village of Altwarp, and there are good mooring options on the Uecker in the seaside resort of Ueckermuende and in Eggesin in the nature park on the Szczecin Lagoon.

ALSACE-LORRAINE: GOURMET AREA, IDYLLIC VILLAGES AND HYDRAULIC STRUCTURES map on page 3
Our fleet is located in Alsace-Lorraine. The rivers (Mosel and Saar) and numerous canals are fantastic to explore. Here we have meandering rivers intersecting with straight canal-sections. The route is diverse in that it runs through mountainous areas, vast fields of open countryside, and busy towns like Strasbourg, Nancy, Metz or Saarbruecken. The rivers Mosel and Saar are characterised with quaint little wine villages and historic buildings. Cruising along is a real trip back in time and dining ashore is a culinary delight. Canal de la Marne au Rhin and Saar Expansive grain-fields, woods with plenty of game, picturesque villages and a number of reservoirs and lakes characterize these two canals. The main attraction of a boating holiday in Alsace-Lorraine lies in the historic architecture of the canalside buildings and structures, including the huge lock of Réchicourt and the boat-lift of St. Louis-Arzviller.
Lorraine’s most beautiful lakes
The 290 kilometers of the Canal de la Marne au Rhin connects the basin around Paris with the plain of the river Rhine. Navigating several locks it travels through the Vosge mountains and the Lorraine-area. Our main base, Niderviller is situated at the top where there is a long section with no locks. After this highest point the canal runs through two tunnels and drops down again into the lovely Alsacien valley of the river Zorn and on to Lutzelbourg, a village famous for glass-blowing. Towering above the village is a castle dating back to the 12th century. Several locks further down is Saverne with its pretty old houses and busy little shops.
Saverne
The Canal de la Sarre leads from the Etang de Gondrexange at the Canal de la Marne au Rhin to Sarreguemines and is situated about 80 kilometres further north. The lakes on either side offer great views with some superb swimming. The canal winds down in three major curves until it gets into the Saar-valley. River Saar offers many places to see, among them the famous Saar Bow near Mettlach.

Gourmet area Idyllic villages and towns
The wine region Mosel and Saar The early part of this region is characterised by wide green fields with the occasional industrial area, the later section (between Toul and Thionville) enjoys beautiful vineyards. The French part of the river Luxemhas only short sections. The cities, like Pont-à-Mousson and burg canalTrier Deutschland Metz have good mooring facilities within an easy stroll of beautiful Saarbrucken old quarters. We highly recommend Metz which is a former bishops’ Frankreich and imperial city and is well–known for Niderviller its cathedral with its famous Metz glass paintings and the new Centre Pompidou Metz. Thionville is Straßburg great for night life containing many squares where you can enjoy Nancy the cafes, restaurants and bars whilst savouring the atmosphere. The castle town of Sierck-les-Bains is where the Mosel says goodbye to France. Remich and Grevenmacher are the major cities on the Luxembourg Mosel. But also the smaller towns are worth a visit. Pass by Schengen, the place where Europe, as we know it today, has begun and Wormeldange, where you can go up the “Koeppchen”, probably the most expensive vineyard in Luxembourg. Destinations like Trier with its Roman sites and the medieval town of Saarburg are popular places to stop on these rivers. -M AG A Z I N. DE

BENEFITS KUHNLE-GROUP
From the very first day of work, you are part of a well-coordinated team with national and international employees from the EU, such as France, and countries outside EU, like Colombia. Employees from our neighbouring country Poland are also an important part of the team. It is important to us to promote and integrate international employees. Various languages such as English, Spanish, Russian, Polish, Serbian, Tajik and French are represented. We communicate with each other in English and German. To reduce language barriers and major misunderstandings, we offer the opportunity to improve language skills in German. When dealing with authorities and applications that have to be filled out before arriving and starting work, we are at your side and help you to process forms. The experience that many of our employees bring with them from abroad is particularly valuable in tourism and can be put to good use here. It is important to us to treat all colleagues with dignity and respect. We value and integrate everyone regardless of ethnic origin, gender, age, skin colour, sexual orientation, disability, religion or ideology. We stand for tolerance and individuality. Three management positions are held by women (reservation, back office and gastronomy). We also welcome people with physical disabilities. We welcome every new employee who wants to become an important part of our diverse team. Places of employment can be at our main base in Rechlin at the Mueritz, but also in Priepert, Zeuthen, Zehdenick, Malchin and Niderviller (France). KUHNLE-TOURS is still family-owned and operated, more than 40 years after its foundation and will remain so in the future. We give our employees the greatest possible responsibility and a lot of freedom. Our decision-making processes are short. Employees are encouraged to create the basis for innovations. We continuously develop new products and offers. Almost all our developments have been copied by our competitors. Our employees are constantly working on digitalisation and the expansion of the software we use.
Working for us, you deal with boats and with boating guests. What could be more natural than to treat yourself to some time off after work and chug off into the sunset with the boats? We attach great importance to team cohesion: joint boat trips, team meals in our own restaurant, our own beach bar or joint barbecues - you will find all this with us. Of course, the Christmas party and the end-of-season party are also part of the annual schedule. We offer various benefits for employees, but also for trainees and students. If it doesn't work out with finding a place to live, we can provide a temporary flat near the company. From there, the commute to work can easily be managed by bicycle, which we can provide.

Did you know that with some houseboat providers you have to pay a service fee? Or that there is a fee for parking on the premises (in the open air)? Not to mention the final cleaning, which has to be paid for (no matter what condition the crew leaves the boat in)! Since we ourselves find it extremely annoying to have to deal with such complicated additional costs, with KUHNLETOURS everything that you really need or that serves safety is actually included in the price.
INCLUDED IN THE CHARTER FEE:
• Starter boat package with bed linen and towels are included on Kormoran and Aquino. Bookable on all other boats: see right page • Berth in the Marinas Hafendorf Mueritz, Berlin-Zeuthen and Niderviller in Alsace-Lorraine are included, and you can also bunker water, dispose of waste water and use electricity free of charge at these charter stations during the journey. • Charge in the embarkation/disembarkation charter base: First and last night in Priepert/Mecklenburg Lake District, MildenbergZehdenick and Malchin/Peene & Usedom • Included Outdoor parking in the Hafendorf Mueritz and in the Marina Niderviller is available free of charge, further parking possibilities on the right and in the Captain's Manual. • Detailed briefing or charter certificate on the day of takeover (approx. 3 hours for bookings without a licence in Germany) is included, also for an additional person.
• Trip literature (trip planner for Mecklenburg and Maerkische Waters (german) or trip guide for trips from Niderviller) and the Captain's Manual will be sent to you before your arrival. You will receive the Mecklenburg and Maerkisch Waters Atlas (german) or map material on loan when you take over the yacht. • Insurance excess: 1200 €, except for trips on the Elbe or Oder • Service guarantee: Emergency service in case of technical problems • WIFi for free in Berlin-Zeuthen and Niderviller (marina and apartments), as well as in Hafendorf Mueritz in the Captain's Inn and in the apartments in the "Captain's Inn" building in the Pirate's Bar and at the moorings near the Pirate's Bar • Children's life jackets • Inventory including household and boating equipment, tableware, glasses, cutlery, pots, pans and other kitchen utensils, pillows and blankets, necessary boating equipment including mooring lines, anchor, boat hook, fender and safety equipment, fuel and water tanks. • Detailed boat descriptions: kuhnle-tours.com/boats • KUHNLE-TOURS Extras are not compulsory
