HORIZONTAL JUMP GEMS While Kansas has had several talented horizontals come through Lawrence over the years, the group has had some of its most prosperous years in the past decade.

NCAA champions Theo Hamilton, Sanya Owolabi and Gary Ard helped lay the foundation for the ressuragance that has been taking place in the recent seasons. Since 2002, 13 KU men and women horizontal jumpers have added their names to the All-American lists and have won eight Big 12 championships. Benuad Shirley won back-to-back triple jump titles in 2002 and 2003 while Barrett Saunders picked up the Big 12 crown in the long jump in 2007. Crystal Manning rewrote the KU record books in the triple jump from 2006-09 as she would end her career with three conference championships and the indoor and outdoor school record books in the triple jump Andrea Geubelle and Francine Simpson have each continued to carry the mantle of the great Jayhawk jumpers. In her first two seasons, Geubelle is already a five-time All-American in the triple and long jumps and her name is already near the top of each of the all-time KU record books. SANYA OWOLABI
