was involved in football, basketball and choir, and spent time volunteering with his church’s youth group. He is the son of Doug, p’84, and Nina Beeler Fowler, p’83. On his mother’s side, Matt is the grandson of William Beeler, p’60. On his father’s side, Matt is the grandson of William, ’49, and Laurilla Cox Fowler, ’49.

Kristi Cochran served aces growing up near the Alamo. She was team captain in the United States Tennis Association junior league in 2008-’09. During her time at John Marshall High School in San Antonio, Kristi also helped out with Meals on Wheels and at the Roy Maas Youth Alternative Home. She is granddaughter of Norman Cochran, b’47, and the daughter of Steven Cochran, c’70, l’73. Kristi follows her sister, Kelli Cochran Fitzpatrick, c’99, g’00, and brother, Matthew Cochran, j’02, to the Hill.

Forensics buff Joshua Freeman participated in speech and debate at Roland High School in Muldrow, Okla. He also helped out on the agriculture survey team. He is the son of Kristie Gast, m’90, and the grandson of Joseph Gast, e’50, g’65.

Bilingual freshman Shannon Collins joins her fellow classmates after acting as treasurer of the French Honor Society at South County Secondary School in Lorton, Va. She also served aces as captain of the varsity volleyball team for two years and participated at Virginia Girls State in 2009. Shannon follows her mother, Jamie Wilson Collins, b’84, and grandmother, Lee Ann Thompson Wilson, c’54, to KU.

Expert editing skills led Megan Gaudreau to work as features editor of Kapaun Mount Carmel High School’s newspaper. She also was active in National Honor Society, student council, tennis and soccer. In her spare time away from school, Megan volunteered at Wichita’s Sedgwick County Zoo and the Lord’s Diner. She follows her sister, Katie Gaudreau Brewer, c’04, and brother, Brian, b’06, to Mount Oread. They are the children of Brian, c’77, and Elizabeth Mitchell Gaudreau, d’77, g’78, and the grandchildren of David, e’49, and Mary Daugherty Mitchell, f’49. Megan’s paternal grandfather, William Gaudreau, b’50, also attended KU. She joins freshman cousin David DeGoler on the Hill.

David DeGoler is prepared for the School of Business at KU after participating in Shawnee Mission East High School’s DECA program. He also played varsity football and volunteered with SHARE—a school community service organization. He joins his sister, Caroline, at KU, and they are the cousins of incoming freshman Megan Gaudreau. They are the children of James, c’83, and Janie Daugherty DeGoler, c’82, and the paternal grandchildren of James, p’56, and Patricia David DeGoler, c’55. David’s maternal grandfather, William Daugherty, c’48, also holds crimson and blue credentials.

Alex Gilkeson travels to KU from Wichita, where he graduated from Kapaun Mount Carmel High School. He is the son of Bruce Gilkeson, c’74, and the grandson of Hunter Gilkeson Jr., c’32, and Frances Hurd Herman, c’79. Alex’s great-greatgrandparents, Bruce, l1914, and Madeline Nachtmann Hurd, c1915, also graduated from KU.

As a National Merit Finalist and Chancellors Club Scholar, Glenn Dunne is prepared for class at KU. Academics aside, he excelled in track at Blue Valley North High School, and competed in Kansas’ state meet. Glenn also is an Eagle Scout. Glenn’s Jayhawk roots stem from paternal grandparents, Glenn Jr., ’45, and Mary McCleary Dunne, ’45. His parents are Peter, b’81, and Christine Hedges Dunne, c’84.
