Scholarship Funds Roberts Scholarship Fund Presented to Barnaby Roberts in 1990 upon his retirement as headmaster from Chestnut Hill Academy.
R. Dilworth Lees Merit Scholarship Fund Originally funded in 1980, the Dilworth Lees Scholarship is awarded to a 9th grade student or students on the basis of academic excellence, possession of leadership qualities, and the potential to make a significant contribution to the life of the school and the community, without regard to need.
Almarach Scholarship Fund The Almarach Scholarship Fund was established in 1981 by a gift to CHA from Alfred S. Martin. Funds are to be presented to “a student or students who are judged capable of making a significant extracurricular contribution to CHA while
meeting the academy’s normal academic standards, whenever possible. First preference should be made for a student whose extracurricular contribution to CHA may be primarily in athletics.”
Robert A. Kingsley Scholarship Fund Presented to Mr. Kingsley in 1965 upon his retirement as headmaster from Chestnut Hill Academy.
Alumni Scholarship Fund Originated by the Alumni Association in 1972, the Alumni Scholarship Fund is to be used “for scholarships, hopefully to sons of young alumni.”
Hogan Scholarship Fund Funded in 1989, this scholarship is awarded to an incoming 10th grade boy and is based on the student meeting the following criteria: financial need, academic effort, and sportsmanship.
Corning Pearson Jr. ’59 Scholar Athlete Scholarship Fund In memory of CP Pearson Jr., this scholarship is awarded annually to an incoming 9th grade boy who meets the school’s academic standards and demonstrates an interest in athletics, particularly baseball. Franklin A. and Margaret W. Steele Middle School Scholarship Fund This scholarship was established for an incoming Middle School student with financial need, preferably with Irish, Scottish, or Welsh heritage. The primary focus is on a student with strong citizenship traits and integrity.
George V. Strong III ’74 Citizenship and Scholars Fund Created through the kindness of George’s family and friends, the scholarship celebrates George’s life by offering a scholarship to a young man who offers outstanding potential to enrich the school community in the same spirit as George enriched the many communities to which he belonged. The scholarship is open to incoming 9th and 10th grade students.
Christopher Carrington Mellor ’69 Student Athlete Scholarship Fund While at CHA, Chris was highly respected by everyone and distinguished himself as a dedicated student and athlete.
