As you enter the fairgrounds, know that you are taking part in one of my favorite Kansas traditions. Each year, visitors from around the world come to Hutchinson to celebrate the pride, culture, and history of our great state. Whether you’re sampling 50-year-old family recipes, enjoying a concert at the Nex-Tech Grandstand, or experiencing Kansas’ rich agricultural history firsthand, the State Fair offers something for everyone and reminds us why Kansas is such a special place to call home.
The Fair’s origin story reflects our Kansas values: hardworking, resilient people came together to create something meaningful for their community. What began as the Reno County Agricultural Society over 150 years ago, despite setbacks and challenges such as angry grasshoppers, has grown into the modern State Fair we know and love today.
The Fair continues to evolve. In 2019, one of the first bills I signed as Governor authorized the State Fair Board to establish a nonprofit corporation to fundraise to expand the Fair’s offerings. Over the past few years, the state
has invested millions of dollars into restoring and improving buildings across the state fairgrounds to provide fairgoers with an even more dynamic experience. Under the leadership of the State Fair Board and General Manager Bryan Schulz, the State Fair continues to increase attendance, draw new, exciting attractions, and bring together Kansans and visitors alike to our great state.
My administration will continue to support efforts to grow the Fair as an important Kansas tourist attraction, a symbol of our agricultural sector’s strength, and a driver of the local economy.
No matter what brings you to the Fair, enjoy your time in the Sunflower State as you create memories that will last a lifetime. To those who make this valuable attraction possible year in and year out, I say thank you. You make our state proud.
LAURA KELLY Governor of Kansas
Welcome to the 2025 Kansas State Fair! On behalf of the entire Kansas State Fair Board, I welcome you to the best part of September. Our staff has been busy making your Fairgrounds even better.
Phase one of the Bison Arena is completed, and we have installed a permanent cover over the seating at Peoples Bank and Trust Arena. The Pride of Kansas butter sculpture cooler is new as well.
Our live entertainment is second to none. Our grandstand shows bring every type of music, plus we have added professional wrestling.
Our free stages are loaded, and we have awesome roving acts.
Come hungry, come check out our plethora of food and drink choices.
Be sure to stroll through our livestock barns as well as our 4H/FFA and open class buildings.
JOHN LESLIE President of the Board Kansas State Fair
It’s chewy, it’s sweet, it’s back on the scene; the taffy you’ve missed since 2019! Back by popular demand and ready to go, add this stop to your fair flow! Now when you ask, "Where's the taffy" you will find it at two locations—the 1861 Club or the Official Kansas State Fair Merchandise Booth—so you can stock up and "Get Stuck on a Fair Favorite!"
Kids, grab an adult and come race through the Fair on a quest to discover all the clues and make it back to the finish line first! The event is happening Saturday, Sept. 13 at 10:00 AM at the Education Center. Teams will begin their adventure there with their first clue leading to a specific Fair location. From there, they’ll keep solving riddles until the final clue brings them back to the finish line, where Ike will be waiting with a championship trophy. Spaces are limited, so pre-registration is encouraged—sign up now on our website!
Traditionally, the Veteran’s Breakfast is held on Wednesday at the Kansas State Fair. This year, it will take place on Thursday, Sept. 11, in honor of this meaningful day.
Giddy up and join the fun at the Kansas State Fair! Open to all ages, the Stick Horse Races are happening Sunday, Sept. 7 from 4:00 to 4:30 PM at the Expo II Arena. For $15, you’ll get to race and take home your very own pool noodle horse, or join in for $5 and borrow one. Registration and horse sales begin at 3:30 PM at the arena. All proceeds go to Working Equitation of Kansas—so come race and support a great cause!
The safety of our fairgoers, vendors and staff is a top priority. We’re proud to share that we are installing temporary Pedestrian Crosswalks on State Fair Road for 2025. There will be three (3) crosswalk areas installed to make it easier and safer for Fair attendees to get to and from the North Parking Lots. Locations for these crosswalks will include Gate 4, Gate 5 and Gate 7. We will have these areas marked with Red and White feather flags and temporary crosswalks will be installed over the roadway. We will also install crosswalk signage at all walk areas.
Included in our safety upgrades, we will have additional lights in Parking Lots A and B as well as along State Fair Road. Cameras in Parking Lots A, B and C will be back to assist with safety and security.
Welcome to the 2025 Kansas State Fair!
We’re excited to have you with us as we celebrate “All Things Kansas” — its proud agricultural roots, vibrant traditions, and the incredible spirit of community that brings us all together. Whether you’ve come to showcase your champion livestock, savor your favorite Fair foods, cheer on a contest, or simply take in the sights, sounds, and flavors of “All Things Kansas,” there’s something here for everyone to enjoy.
As you explore the Fairgrounds, you’ll discover a dynamic blend of exhibits, entertainment, and experiences that reflect the creativity, talent, and resilience of Kansans from every corner of our great state.
Something new that you will see when you attend the 2025 Kansas State Fair is a permanent covering over the seating area of People’s Bank and Trust Arena. We are working with local steel contractor, TL Steel, from Burrton, Kansas and Landmark Architects of Hutchinson, Kansas to design, build and install this new covering. We are excited to have this permanent covering which will allow us to use the facility throughout the year!
Through the generous allocations from the Kansas Legislature, we have been able to continue upgrading the lighting throughout the Kansas State Fair campus. New areas include upgrades at the Grandstands and Midway area and in many of the buildings! We truly appreciate the Legislature’s continued support of the Kansas State Fairgrounds!
The Kansas State Fair is more than just an event — it’s a gathering of friends, families, and neighbors united by a shared sense of pride and tradition.
Thank you for being part of this cherished celebration. We invite you to make new memories, reconnect with old favorites, and experience the best of Kansas with us.
Have a safe, fun, and unforgettable 2025 Kansas State Fair!
