Tools to Try Feel free to experiment with different techniques and tools.

Color pencils are a popular choice with coloring books because they allow the artist to blend and create shading.

Felt tip markers provide a wonderful depth of color.

Fine-tip gel markers can be used to add detailed lines to the existing illustrations.

You can even lightly paint some of the images, with a watercolor or acrylic paint, but be sure not to get the paper too wet, or it will bleed and buckle.

Combining and mixing media can achieve great effects. Try using a light colored marker and overlap with another color in pencil to add depth and shade.

Add depth and dimension to your design with shading. You can do this by darkening corners and edges.
